FLIP Ultra hd camera

Well acording to most websites and the gadget show the Kodak is better in low light compared to the Flip, it takes SD cards which is handy and best of all its waterproof to 3m so I will be filming myself when I go down the highest waterslide in Orlando when I go  [eek] [eek] [eek] [scared] [scared] [scared]

My Kodak playsport arrived today first impressions are that its very solid and well made not had a chance to use it yet only just put it on charge. I just need to work out what sdhc card to get for it.

Someone on a UK forum recommended this one sandisk but they seem expensive I know there are cheaper ones for the same Gb but Im not sure exactly what read/write speed I really need, someone said at least class 6.

I'd hate to rain on your parade ( no pun intended ) but 3m waterproof will not mean that your camera can withstand water splashing on it with great force, or for instance jumping in the water with it.
That's just 3m of static pressure, usually measured in equilibrium temperature conditions, and that's easily overcome by water forcefully rushing towards it, or even by dipping it in cool water from a hot summerday. Even a strong jet from a garden hose is known to penetrate that sort of waterproof sealing, so beware. Probably more useful is the fact that a 3m waterproof seal is a very good dustbarrier, and dust is abundant whenever your camera is out of the water...

There is nothing wrong with this one at all:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Transcend-SDHC-Class-Memory-Card/dp/B002WE6D44/ref=dp_cp_ob_computers_title_3

I have a few of a similar type they have here in the states. The one you reference sure is nice though.

I have one like this, but I see I no difference in use:

http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-High-Performance-Card-SDSDX3-008G-P31/dp/B002GEQDK4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1283451492&sr=8-1

Only a class 2 so properly bit slow

This one is a class 4 which is fast enough really
Very stange though I own 4 of these PNY cards all are 16GB and all class 4  I also bought them for play.com  but I payed 17GBP each but they are now selling for 62GBP and if you look down it says 33 GBP and if you go  all the way down to the bottom some one says at the bottom in the review they got it for 17GBP which is what I payed for mine.  I bought 2 at first 17GBP each then liked them and bought another two because thought they where really cheap.  Does any one know whats going on?!?! Things dont normaly go up in price not that much!!!   17GBP is really cheap for 16GB class 4 really.

EDITED:

I just called play.com because I couldnt believe I payed 17GBP like 6 months or more ago and now its 33GBP  any way the woman at play.com said they dont stock them any more the item is not sold by them any more its sold by a third party and thats why the price has gone up.

Just thought let you know  cus I didnt know that play.com did that.

Well lucky me I found them at the right time I save my self 64GBP.

I dont know about the yours but my Panasonic has been fine with jets of water and I have jumped/dived in water been down slides with it if you dont believe me ill look for the videos and post them on here! so any way I  have had no problems I think it would have to be like a power hose for it to be a jet in my opinion or proper hard jet of water  just simple spray of a garden hose wont do anything. Going down slides and jumping in water will be completely fine. Im not saying I would slap the camera into the water though as hard as you can lol.

What you do have to look out for it dirt and hairs when you open up the camera to remove/insert the card or battery  little hairs or dirt on the seal can allow water into the camera and always put the camera in clean water and whirl it around  after you have been in the Sea or Pool.

I tried the Playsport out yesterday with an old 1/2Gb sd card while I wait for the 8Gb. I went paddling in the River Thames with my two sons and took the camera I was very impressed with the picture quality. I did seem very wierd when dipping the camera under the water but it worked well couldnt see much but I can blame the Thames for being murky not the camera.

Takes a while to get use to the idea of gettin the camera wet I finally got use to the thought of my camera but my waterproof phone I feel the same again feels strange butting in under tha tap while music is coming out of it.  When I go on holliday im going to ring some on in the pool and see if I can hear them and record my self with my camera underwater on the phone lol! Jokes!!!

Hi Brice, not had much chance to use it yet but it looks good so far. My golf has been going a bit dodgy lately so i decided to video my swing the other day with the Kodak set on 60 frames per second and it looked great in slow motion on my pc, did'nt cure my swing  [laughing] but the videos come out great even at 720 resolution. I got an 8Gb fast sd card for it which will do about 2 hours at 1080p just picked up a Dell netbook to take on holiday so we can download the videos off the camera while away.

Chris

Thanks, I'm thinking about picking one up since they're so inexpensive ($120 USD at Amazon). You should be able to practice that golf swing while in Orlando.

Yeah Ive looked up the courses already I like the Mickey mouse shaped bunkers  [laughing]

Getting quiet excited Im sure my boys will love Disney we are staying on the resort.

Actually while on the subject we have a hire car booked for Disney and its a compact as you call them out there the example they give is a Nissan Versa anyone driven one out there just wondered if they are big enough for 4 suitcases and hand luggage etc plus 2 adults and two children. Ive been warned to expect the usual "YOU NEED AN UPGRADE" speech when we land  [laughing]

I was going through some pictures and found these!    Using my 3m water proof Camera on slides this is reffering to jvsteenb comment not to use is on slides.

I have done loads of times and it still works fine.

I know its a rubbish slide looks bit slow it was a rubbish water park really the worst one I have ever been to but its when I got my water proof camera so dont have any other videos!  I think I made another video on a faster slide but I cant find it at the moment if I do ill load it up

I had a chance to try my Playsport yesterday kayaking on the Monongahela River.  Got out just after sunrise (or what would had been sunrise, thick fog was covering the river until about 10 am.)  The video quality turned out better than I would have expected with so little light. Although it lost a bit quality with my crappy video editing software.  For a $120 it's hard to beat...
