Operators were standing by to take your order.  They fell asleep. Help me wake them up.

Peter,

will be ordering a few when I get back into town.  Was just up in your area on our way to Boston (we stopped to say hi to George Washington!)  Most likely getting a fog1sys, a fog2, a fog3, and a fog4...Unfortunately, I'm spending too much money up here prior to the wedding (not mine).

Jon

Jon,

Hope you had a great trip!

Look forward to your order.  I am a little concerned about the rate of orders coming in.  It is what it is, but would love to know if it is the economy, the price, lead time, temporary lag, etc., that is holding back the orders.

Peter

For me the lag is talking myself into standing in the hot and humid garage to figure out which ones I want.  I have to go there now to make a silly shelf for a neighbor so maybe once I'm soaked beyond recognition, i'll just hang out to figure it out.

Humid?  In AZ?  You don't know what humidity is on that side of the country!  [big grin]

I wouldn't be surprised if the lead time has a fair amount to do with it. If I hadn't committed early on to buying some, I would give the purchase a long hard thought. Buying the Sys now and getting delivery in Nov works if you are ordering presents. For guys who are looking at putting these things into service, it is probably fairly hard to justify. In my own case, this is somewhat of a burden. I need some more Sys now to improve efficiency, storage and strategy. I can wait but it blows. I don't want to go out and blow another few hundred on regular Sys now for those purposes along with the few hundred for Fogtainers. Work isn't that good.
Fogtainers have been in the making for a good while at this point. Now it's time to order and the window of opportunity is fairly short. The reasons for the short order time are understandable. However since work isn't that good, for probably a lot of guys, the short order time may be a bit difficult to budget on such short notice.
As far as price, it is what it is. Like anyone here didn't pretty much know what the prices would be?

Markus,

First, THANK YOU for your post and your honesty in telling me / us what issues you feel are an issue.

Secondly,  Nobody committed earlier.  If this is not right for any member who posted interest earlier, then do what you need to do.

This is an educational experience for both me and also for anyone who reads these posts.  Comments are important to both me and also those who will try to do similar in the future.

Thanks again and I hope others will will also post.

Peter

Heh Peter, 'committed' probably wasn't the best choice of word. You asked if people were interested and would buy. At least part of your motivation to move forward was based on people stating interest. That interest to some degree, whether minor or unintended, was somewhat of a commitment to follow through. Obviously, I agree with you that no one should go through with a deal that doesn't work for them.
My order stands.
Markus

Peter,

As Markus stated above, it is doubtful the price. For me it is the economy, nothing more, nothing less.

Peter

I will be ordering at some point but for me, I am just hanging in there to the last minute, (to make you sweat a bit, like you did us  ;D)

Thanks for doing this

Paul

Come on guys lets get these orders in..............From what i remember there was interest months ago for over 200!!!

As far as lead time ..we all new and we've had time to save for them ..Now is the time to support the people who made this happen!

I know I'm getting a couple/few but I just spent a bunch of $$$ on other toys er... necessities and need to wait a couple of weeks for the next paycheck.  [wink]

Plus I need to get a couple/few of those TANOS Rolling platforms.

Ordered 4... no new toys for a good bit.  Kids might get their Xmas present "wrapped" in Festool blue & green, hehe.

I spent lots of time mulling and debating which sizes to get... keeping in mind what other Systainers these would replace and free up, and what I would use those for... Had to make a spreadsheet and "map" them out so it works out.  Especially fun since I have messed with the box sizes for certain things.. e.g. I use a Sys 1 for the Domino assortment... but I moved the router bit holder foam to a Sys 2.

My desire is for my accessory items to be in Fogtainers.  That way when I grab my Domino "stack", the blue bottom Systainer makes it clear I got the Dominos for use..  Same with route rand router bits... Sanders and sandpapers...

The lag time is a bummer, but I understand the cause.

Man I wanted to do that. Ordering 1 x Sys 2 for router bits (since sys1 doesn't fit the tall ones :( ) but my dad isn't a fan of non necessities so I could only pull off a "support buy" as I phrased it :)

Don't mind the lag time. It takes longer for a Festool that i've order to come through so it's not that bad.

Peter while I like the colour and had thought I may buy some I dont see any extra value in the fogtainer so for me its the shiping and customs charges that changed my mind. I am on the wrong side of the pond for this one.But I'm sure you will sell plenty and it will be worth all your hard work

Living on this side of the Pond made me think twice before I decided sod it im ordering 4 Fogstainers not looking forward to the actual price of the shipping and other chargers!  [crying]  I dont think something like this will happen again anytime soon and ill be  [sad] if I was to miss out.  Also I see more and more people in the UK with festool systainers and getting commen now  atleast ill be different again!!!  [big grin]

I think you may get as many orders in the last two days as were ordered in all that time before the deadline. Whenever I put deadlines on things I sell that always happens.

For instance I may take from 2-4, but for me there is no reason to part with my money until the 15th.

The extra value is only to show that you are a part of the FOG, our club. If that is not reason enough then there is no reason.  :)

Peter,

I plan on making my order in the next few days, I'm just having to divide my cash between living expenses and putting down some money on my jet drum sander. So once i get that organized i will have a better idea of how many FOGtainers im going to take.

For anyone really but especially for the international guys ... if a guy buys a Sys 4 would it be possible to pack a Sys 1 or 2 inside of that Sys 4 to reduce potential additional costs. That might help the UK guys. Just a thought.

No, I'm afraid not. It just won't fit.  [sad]

For UK members, I've just posted some info on shipping costs in a separate thread.
