I need to cut 2 1/8” and 2 1/4” holes through some tough woods . My set of nice forstner bits only go to 2”. Need recommendation for vendor. (Not HF quality).

Perfect! Thanks

I was asked by my wive to make her a wooden bracelet. I made a couple, one from cocobolo and one from ebony. I friend saw my wife's bracelet and wanted one. I made her a bracelet and a cuff (bracelets are 3/4" wide and cuffs are 1 1/2" wide. Then, my nieces saw the bracelets and both wanted one. That's how it all started...... One niece said she could sell these for about $100 each. Not sure I want to go into the business of making them.

It seems like 2 1/4" is the right diameter for small hands. Largest hand I've made a bracelet is 2 1/2". My largest Forstner bit is 2" and I have been reaming out the hole on my lathe. I've ordered a set of Starrett telescoping gages so my diameters will be easier to measure.

I've enjoyed my Freud's for general use in hardwoods. More economical especially if they aren't used everyday.

I have L.V. saw tooth bits up to 2" 1/2. They are ok if you go slow. I think the recommended speed is around 250rpm

Fisch Waverunner.....made in Austria....expensive, sharp and durable.

Have you considered using a quality carbide tipped hole saw so you are not turning precious cocobolo and ebony into shavings and sawdust.

FWIW Freud "Diablo" forstner bits are rebranded Fisch Wave Cutter bits. Half the price for the exact same thing.
