Found a more reasonable price on the Mafell p1cc and pulled le Trigger

Hi all,

I have been saving a while for the Mafell p1cc jig saw and it was around 1300 dollars for the starter setup I wanted, with the tilting base, a single rail and the saw.  I found someone on Ebay selling a kit which includes the saw, the tilting base and a single FS80 rail kit for 668.00 USD with 58.00 shipping from Europe.  So that ended up being about 325 dollars cheaper than I could get from the sole dealer here in the US.

It's nearly half the price of the kit so it's worth the gamble.  I used paypal so I am safe there and the people selling them have thousands of sales and good feedback, I had much communication with them so I feel like I've done my homework.  Anyway I will probably not see it for at least a few weeks but when I do I will report back and do the photos etc.  One thing to note is that it is a 110v so that is good but the power plug will be the UK model so I will need to use a single plug adapter or wire a new one.  Haven't decided yet, going to wait to see it first.

Very excited to get this saw, I've been wanting it for over a year and just everything was in the way of it.  Finding it this much cheaper allowed me to get it much earlier.

Just an update, the item took 3 days to get from the UK and it showed up pristine, rail was not damaged, saw and tilting plate was in perfect condition.  I ran to home depot tonight and picked up a nema 115v cord end and connected it.  Fired up perfectly, smooth and wonderful.  The only downside was having to wire a USA plug on it, for 325 dollars in savings I'll take the 4 dollar part and 10 minutes.

Very excited!  Highly recommended.

That deal on the MT55 is awesome, almost makes me regret my T55Req purchase. 2 1600mm rails would be nice.

The European tool makers kept their prices the same or raised them even as the Euro's value plummeted from $1.50 US to around $1.10. Of course we will never get that rate, but the actual rate will be very close. Unfortunately the dealer posting those items to eBay probably will be shut down by Mafell as they are selling out of their market area. It is always best to not broadcast these finds here or any other public site because eventually it will ruin it for everybody else.

Really? I don't know the prices of Mafell accessories here but I followed the OP's link and noticed that a pack of two blades for the P1cc costs $50. For two jigsaw blades?!!

Dang thats a great price! Is there a listing for just the saw though without the rail and accessory? I dont need a rail for a jigsaw.

The other downside is voiding your warranty. Moreover, the manufacturer may refuse to service UK purchased tool in US at all due to liability issues.

While the discounted price is nice, and hard to argue with in the short term, I also did not notice the Mafell logo on the sellers website.  This would indicate to me that they are not an authorized dealer and could lead to trouble should repair be needed.  Speaking of which, shipping back to England for repair would be expensive. 

Needless to say the OP is happy and I am happy for him.  There is no denying he has gotten a better price than I did, particularly since I purchased all my accessories separate from the tool (cringing while I do the math in my head).

I am just not brave enough to spend that kind of money without an ironclad assurance of full warranty protection and solid dealer representation here in this country.  My hat is off to jdw101, and I hope he enjoys his wonderful new Mafell jig saw!

As with any jig saw, all blades are not created equal, with each serving a different purpose using either a different tooth design or length or thickness.  The blades you are pointing out as being expensive (Jig saw blade CUnex W1, 2 pieces), are the patented Mafell blades that can only be used with the P1cc (they are essentially two blades welded together to create one very stiff unbendable blade).

I thought that the shank is still standard and only the cutting part is thicker. I.e. you can stick Mafell blade into Bosch saw and vice versa. Is this correct? Sorry for hijacking the thread.

Looking at the Mafell W1 blade here in front of me, it does look as if it is just two blades together, on the cutting side only, with the back of the blade looking more like a single blade width.  As for the shank of the blade, it does appear to have an extra layer of support on both sides of the blade (enough so that your fingernail will catch on both sides).  As for what appears to be the second layer of the blade, extra support does extend down at least 2/3 of the shank, but narrower than the standard width of the blade.  I suspect the unique lack of a roller bar on the Mafell jig saw, is what prevents anyone from using this particular blade on other jig saws, Bosch included (at least that is my understanding).

I ordered my mafell Erika from Germany, had it shipped and added a new plug to use it in the us. If you felt these tools you wouldn't worry about them going boom, they don't have motor failures like some saws.

.... that have been read about.  Also, how many - being inline with this thread - Carvex MOTORS or TS MOTORS "failing" have you read about.

I have nothing against Mafell and their tools.  They make great tools.

The p1cc has a condensed cuprex motor in it, the same as every saw mafell makes but on a different scale. If you handled the tools and more importantly heard or felt the motors in use you'd just understand.

For reference my p1cc weighs almost twice what my trion weighs.
