I've been given some 34 degree nails for paslode type guns. They are 90mm and 50mm ring shank but have no writing on the paper and I have no box. Anyone know how I can tell if they are galvanized in anyway ? I used to be able to tell as they are normally matt grey . These days theres so many different types.

If I get time I will take a photo

My first thought was they are not as they are so shiny

Shiny is the new Galv.

Best bet is leave them out side  like Dean said you will soon find out for sure if they have anything on them!

The reason it's brighter is it's electroplated zinc galvanizing compared to hot dipped galvanizing.  Like Dean had mentioned, if you're ever unsure, just wet the nails and let them sit to see if rust develops.

Yeah I've soaked one in salty water left it out to see what happens. As I say normally its obvious but these nails I'm not sure.
