Gaming Table Build Critique

All,
I've been tasked by SWMBO to build a gaming table for my daughter's graduation from college.  I'll be building it out of solid cherry.  Most parts are 3/4 except the top which will be 7/8" and the exterior frame that has the drawer fronts which will be 1".  I just bought a Domino XL and a CT36 for this project and have never used one before.  I've tentatively drafted some sketchup plans for the table and put in where I think I'd put the dominos.  I'd really appreciate your feedback as to whether or not the domino is the right tool for what I have drawn up.  I do have a Kreg but SWMBO gave me some latitude to buy some new tools for this project so I took her up on it.  This is not to say I can't go back to Kreg if it would be more appropriate for what I have planned.

I have the full sketchup file with details on the drawer construction if anybody wants them -- it doesn't look like I can upload sketchup files so you can contact me offline.

This design is an attempt to duplicate a table my daughter found online and that I researched as much as I could by looking at pictures from around the web.

Thanks,
Dave

What sort of gaming table is this?  Board games ?  Laptops?

I would suggest adding cup holders. This comes from ~30 year RPGer.
Having someone spill a drink on the game table is no fun. :)

Excellent idea! Have you been playing RPGs ? The ones i played had a game-leader. You might like to make his place a little special, with an unfolding screen for example..
Depending on the games your daughter plays, a grid might come in handy as well..

The game vault has a 2 1/4 inch recessed area that us exposed by removing the planks that rest on the 1/4 inch lip at the top of the vault.  If a game isn't finished she can put the top back on until they play again.

End drawers have the flip outs on the side as well as the center flip up.  Side drawers just have the flip up.  All drawers have a removable writing surface.

I think it is a very cool idea and something your daughter will really like.

My only critique is that the style of the table is on the generic side.  Is there a style that your daughter really likes such as Arts & Crafts, Victorian, etc?  If that is the case I would add that to the table design so even if she loses interest in gaming down the road the table will remain something she loves and will stay with her for years to come.
