Anyway to find the release date of FT products already in production?

Thanks!

In what country?
In n America, we typically get a 2-3 month pre release announcement, the best place I have found to get that info is right here on the fog  from the various dealers who regularly contribute
Are you looking for a release date on a specific item..?

I’m looking for all current  products.

I’m on the fence for a angle grinder, but once thing I hate most is buying it, 2 months later there is a new product.

Just happened with a CTL MIDI. :/

I’m from EU, but I guess it’s maybe interesting for everybody?

I usually just check the press section on the Festool Website (German version) to see if something is announced/upcoming.

Going through the past years, you can see that press releases are usually done early in the year (Jan/Feb as with the new Vecturo etc.) around April/May, July or in October/September/November.

But like any other company, you will not be able to know if something is upcoming before hand....

I am also waiting on the new angle grinder.
Was about to get the new Fein cordless, but I want to see if Festool has some new Technology upcoming (maybe the nice Bosch Quick Lock System?!)

Yeah, if the DSC-Ag is already 10 yr. on the market (looked like a rebranded Protool). Then maybe likely to release a new version. The QLS would be great, but also a quick break would be nice. I don't think I will be in need of a cordless version, but some people will.

And with FT pricing, you want to buy once....  ;)

I don’t use a grinder often, and especially with this kind of tools I find cordless to be highly appreciated, since the mobility really comes in handy.

For the track saw etc, I do not mind corded, since it is tethered to a vac anyways. And with the hose/cord in one, I am absolutely happy.

I am still on the fence about which type of “trigger” to go for with the grinder, but I think a “dead-man-switch” will prove to be much safer an no inconvenience on the limited use at my side.

Hi!

I would strongly recommend to hold off on any angle grinder purchase until Bosch's X-Lock hit the shelves.

This is truly revolutionary and super neat - even if you're not switching between grinding/cutting discs or other consumables all the time. Especially for someone who uses this type of tool rarely (and this is coming from someone who downright hates angle grinders) the amount of added safety is also there.

X-Lock is not QLS.

I'd say, wait until they drop and see what other manufacturers do. Then decide which one to buy.

Kind regards,
Oliver

I use grinders often and various types, from 125mm cordless up to 350mm petrol and they’re all different designs, different on/off switches and accessories etc.
I don’t favour any single design amongst them or over complicate any thinking on them.

The X Loc looks a good idea just like the Starlock set up on multi tools, which it is a port over of, until you actually realise that all the discs need to have this facility in order to work. Then you discover the extortionate price they ask for the accessories with this fitting, it rapidly becomes much less to get excited about.

I spend a lot of money on tools because of the nature of my work, and my business set up, so I’m not a penny pincher.
However, look at the Fein and Bosch Starlock system, it looks great at face value, then you delve into buying the blades, and at around five times the cost of the old type after market offerings, it becomes a lot less attractive.

We use multi tools on a daily basis for various applications, and get through a lot of blades, and if I were limited to Starlock only blades, I doubt we’d be able to afford using these tools as much.
The same logic goes for grinders, or anything else with patented bespoke fittings, it gets too expensive.
I’ll happily carry on using spindle lock and wrench for changing grinder discs, no problem at all.
