I am a new user of this forum and a relatively new user of Festool sanders. The last time I had to prep old latex  interior doors for prime and paint I used the RO125 with 80,  then the ETS 125EQ with 120 and 160 Ganat, then sprayed  sprayed a good coat of SW Premium Wall and Wood, then two coats of SW ProClassic. The doors and trim came out great. This time I have to repaint doors and trim that are  finished with old glossy hard oil based paint. It is a home that is being sold. I am not priming I'm going to spray two coats of SW Pro Industrial Multi Surface Acrylic.  With grits would work good for cleaning them up, dulling and smoothing?

IMO A heat gun a scraper produce less dust and is the ideal tool for the job.

Once you get the bulk off, then you may want to sand, but probably for the "bulk of it".
