Getting ready to buy the T15, How is the new C15 different?

I am just getting ready to order a T15.  I just bought my first home and have many projects for a good cordless drill.  I already have a Panasonic 14.4 but I am returning it to buy the Festool.  I just noticied that Festool is releasing a C15 model.  How will this be different from the T15 and should I wait?

Thanks

Welcome to the FOG!  A couple of things to consider.  One, you may be waiting awhile before the C15 comes out.  There is no guarantee it will be available anytime soon. Two, it appears the main difference is in the handle.  I have the T15 and it's easily the best drill I have ever owned.  No need to wait unless you like the other handle better.  They should perform equally well.

Welcome! I agree with Howard, the difference is the handle design. Some guys prefer one design over the other. If you are in the US, we could be waiting some time before in comes out here, I'd guess at least a year (that is only a guess). If you are in Europe you won't have to wait long. One thing the new C12/15 will have is the belt clip and the LED light. It remains to be seen if the T=3 series will be updated with these features. I'd suggest you go to a Festool dealer and try out the T and C models to see which you like better.

Thanks guys.

Brice, I am actually from Ebensburg, PA and the problem is that the closest Festool dealer is in Pittsburgh (1.5 to 2 hours away).  Do you have a good recommendation for a Festool dealer in our area?

A far as I know there is not a lot of dealer in Pittsburgh, Rockler, Allegheny millwork, Meyers and someplace in Greensburg, Kayheart or something like that.

Well you guys are right.  I just spoke to Festool:

1. At least one year out on the C15 hitting the US.  It will be more compact and lighter than the T15.  Will also have the LED light as pictured.
2. As far as the rep knows, the T15 will not be revised to include a light.

That's it then, I'm holding out for the c15.  I want that light & belt clip  [unsure]  Hope its not far away !

me too i think
woodguy do you have any festool drills if so how do you get on with them im looking forward to having a go with a c15 but i love my little bosch 10.8 li ion and the snappy drill bit i use

lee

Lee,

I have the c12 & love it.  The most annoying thing is the fact that snappy bits don't fit in the Centrotec chuck, you have to put in the keyless chuck for any non Festool bits.  If you do go for a Festool drill, make sure you get the full set with the right angle & eccentric chucks.  They have been a god send, especially on kitchens.  I have just ordered the 09 centrotec set from Miles tools.  I had it in my basket for about 2 weeks at 174gbp inc vat & delivery, an absolute steel.  They were never in stock though as i kept phoning them.  All of a sudden i checked my basket & the price jamp up to 274gbp  [crying].

I phoned them up to see what the story was & she said she will honour the original price, even though i hadn't actually placed the order.  Pretty decent of them, its on its way along with a mini sys  [big grin]

Woodguy.

p.s - was about to get the t15 until i seen the post about the c15 so i am gonna hold out for it.

Thanks woodguy

I don't own any festool drills but I might buy the c15 when it's out the only thing that's puts me off the drill sets is the layout so if I do get one I will probably make my own insert

Lee

I find the insert to work fine.  I wouldn't hold your breath on the c15 though.  Just spoke to my rep & he has not even heard of the c15 until i told him, so he doesn't think it will be coming any time soon.  He tells me they can order around 10 of the Carvex but they will prob only get 2 or 3 as the demand for them is high already  [eek].
He is going to check on the c15 for me so when i know more i will post it here.

I didn't think that area got much snow -- How much did you get?

I don't know about harpenden, but in Austin today we probably got 1/2". Pretty unusual...

Tom

Is there any word about the c12?

P.S. Tom, do you have a retail store in Austin?
I've just started to look around for Festool dealers here.

Well there was about 2 inches easily and although I feel I'm pretty capable of driving in snow I worry about all the others in the road in the end I did drive home at about 8 o'clock so I got home at nearly 10 long day

I do and I don't...

I work from my house, where I stock just about everything Festool. My local customers can come here or I go where they are. I deliver for free and will demo things here or wherever you prefer, within reason. About the farthest I've ventured so far was Kerrville, but I'm open to any invitation.

Tom

I'm just south of downtown, across 35 from St. Edwards.
When the c12/c15 come in, I reckon I'll be giving you call!

I'm just east of Barton Creek and just south of Barton Skyway. Call or come by anytime...
