My apologies to all that have put up with my three or four hundred inquiries about mitered doors and the Domino.
I am happy to say I finally built my mitered doors and the Domino is back in my good graces.
I must admit I was having a bit of buyers remorse- seemed one minute my Domino worked precisely then the next things wouldn't line up. I was always apprehensive about the results. But happily it was worth every dollar with the mitered door project and worked incredibly well.

Max,

Sorry, don't believe you!  No pics; didn't happen!  ;D

We want pics!  We want pics!  We want...

Dan.

Alright Dan,
As mentioned before I have more questions about how to post photos than mitered door/domino questions-
But I have whined about this long enough, tomorrow I WILL take a photo (they are pretty good looking doors) and figure out how to post- Check it out tomorrow night- thanks Max

So what is the best or preferred way to send pictures now?
And how many ways are there? Set up a Gallery, or attachments,
or in-line attachments or...?

The "best way" depends on what you want to do in each particular post.  Sometimes, you want to easily insert an image right in the body of your message (if so, use the "Insert Inline Image..." option).  Sometimes, you just want to have a set of attachments listed at the end of your post (if so, use the "Attach:" feature).

I'm in the process of getting a new and improved gallery up and running for the forum.  You can access it through the "GALLERY" link in the main menu (the old gallery will soon be phased out).  You would use the gallery to create a set of photos, videos, or sound files.  I'll be posting more about the new, improved gallery very shortly.

Michael and Max,

IMO, the best way of posting pics depends on what your are trying to accomplish.  If you want to post a pic in a single post, then "Insert Inline Image..." is probably the best approach.  If you have an image that you want to refer to multiple times, then uploading to a Gallery and referencing in a post is probably best.

The new gallery has some great features and will improve adminstration, but the basic process for referencing a Gallery image is unchanged.

I did a quick update of the Photo tutorial, and added a link and description to Matthew's thread - Using the "Insert Inline Image Feature...".    Here's the Photo Tuturial which should help answer questons about uploading your pics:http://festoolownersgroup.com/index.php?topic=292.0.

Regards,

Dan.

p.s., this was a quick edit to the tutorial although it, although it needs more updating with the latest info.  When I have more time, I'll get that done.

I tried to post the photos but no luck - too big!  I will figure out the metric system before I learn to reduce the size of these things-
I was able to get them on the computer with Kodak easy share but can't figure out how to reduce file size- now my head and my typing finger hurt-

Max,

Here's a quick tutorial about using IrfanView to downsize the image:http://festoolownersgroup.com/index.php?topic=289.0.  If you don't mind spending about $80, PhotoShop Elements is a much better program and very flexible.  Here's a tutorial for reducing the images in PhotoShop Elements: http://festoolownersgroup.com/index.php?topic=290.0.

Note that PhotoShop Elements has a whole bunch of great features that help you manage your images.  It's much more that a simple image editor.

If all else fails, give me a PM and I'll walk you through it.

Regards,

Dan.

Max, if I remember correctly, the easyshare software has a "save for web" option when saving the pictures, this saves the pictures as smaller file sizes. See if your version has this feature.

The Infan is really easy to use. Dan you just beat me to the punch with your post.

the last two are a peek at the kitchen that these domi-doors are going in- oh thats three!
I warned about creating a monster...

Thank you Dan,
It is harder to do this photo deal than it is to build the darn doors.
It was Brices tip about easyshare and save that opened my world to boring people with my construction photos...its Brices fault

maxrpierce,
Thanks for posting the photos of your work.  Very nice, and I'm glad you hung in there and figured out the photo thing!  Now you can post all kinds of photos, all over this forum.

What you're doing works, so you can feel free to ignore my next statement...
You don't have to reduce your photos quite so much.  As long as you get them under 125 KB, that's fine.  As others have said, if you use Irfanview, it's easy to do this.  My technique is to (1) open the photo in Irfanview, (2) save it as a jpg (if it's not already a jpg), (3) resize it to 800x600 or so, (4) make sure it is no more than 72 dpi, and (4) save it to a "quality" level of about 75 or 80.  After that I see if the photo is the right size for posting.  This sounds like a bunch of technical confusion, but it's actually really straightforward in Irfanview.  One of these days, I'll get Photoshop Elements.
