Gorrila sleeve

There are a number of products out there like that. I can't remember exactly where I got mine but I have it on all of my hoses and love it! Makes it so much easier to have the power always connected to the hose to swap tools and not snag on things. [wink]

Bikeboy do you have your power cord running through it also. If so what size wrap did you use .Thanks Tony

Yes I ran power cords through it.

I just looked up my order...bought it though cableorganizer.com PET was the model. The 1-1/4 base size worked well for me on the 27mm hose, it was too tight on the 36mm. It fit over but did not allow the power cord to slide around and would bind. I ordered the 1-1/2 and it was perfect on the larger hose.

Thanks. Contacted Wood Wiz to see if he is still selling the kit. If not I will order from cableorganizer. That hose dragging is a pita with the track saw.

Festool dust extractor hose is a pain -  it twists up, hampers the movement of the tool and snags on everything it can find. I thought a length of this stuff would make it better, but it made it even stiffer and completely useless - it went in the bin about 5 minutes after I put it on. I hang the hose and power cord off a plywood hanger from the ceiling joists now.

Bikerboy is right about the sizing. I used the 1 1/4" wrap. Here is old pic of my hose. Just make sure you leave enough slack in power cord at ends.

I would agree, the head shrink didn't work for me either. The first time I came very close to melting a hole in my hose [scared] after I got the hang of melting it and not the hose it would hold on the the ribbing on the hose itself bit not the wrap. So I too resorted to electrical tape and it has be fine since.

Most heat-shrink tubing responds well to just a hair dryer.  A torch is way too much heat.  A heat gun works, too, so long as it's held way back so the gorilla sleeve doesn't melt.

Every heat shrink I've used became stiff. Not flexible.
Generally heat shrink applications are supposed to be stiff.
It doesn't belong on a flex hose?
.
That said any loom might drive me nuts.
It wont always be in the right place anyway?
.
If snagging is and issue I'd consider rounding ever edges of my work table.
.
misc heat shrink in the bin - help yourself

The edge of the work table is not the problem. I have the hose hanging from a laser pole to keep it out of the way. It still snags on the track even with the hose guard. The worst part is when it catches onto the sheet I am trying cut and it snags and I have to stop the cut. I am using a Fein Turbo so getting the Festool vac set up is out of the question.

sorry to hear your frustrations, it's defenitly a valid complaint. Been discussed many times on fog before. I generally reposition and manipulate hose and/or vac prior to each cut to try and avoid possible snags. Doesn't always work but I'm getting much better at predicting the hoses behavior.
What size hose are you using? 27mm?  I've heard guys say Ridgid makes a more flexible hose but not sure it help snag factor. Perhaps it's time for a home made fein vac boom arm. Can't say I've heard of anyone doing one yet. Might be as simple as your laser pole with bungee cord or something.

hmm...
every now and then I get out some old paste wax.
I use it on all metal table tops on my shop and guide rails.
Makes your wood stock slides better and for some less corrosion if your shop is prone to rusty metal.
guess I was thinking there was some way of making the hose glide easier.
spray something on it.
Don't own one so probably not qualified for dopey ideas on hoses.

I have been using a Fein 36 MM but I ordered a festool 27 mm. Maybe that would work better with the Sleeve

I have the Gorilla Sleeve on the 36mm hose on my boom arm using heat shrink tubing to hold it in place.  The only issue I had was that I needed to remove the 36mm hose's final coupling so that the heat shrink tubing would slip over the hose, Gorilla Sleeve and power cord.  I could have ordered larger tubing, I suppose, but it all worked out well in the end.  I left enough slack in the power cord that I can use the 450mm whip of 27mm hose with sanders and the OF 1010.

Thanks for all the help.I put the hose wrap on today. It was a little tough with the cord so I sprayed a little soap on as I going along worked great. The hose should glide a lot easier and not snag on me now. Have nothing to cut for awhile. Go figure
