Got a ts55r at last

The other day I sold a couple of items on eBay with thoughts of using the money to get a new plug it lead for my existing ts55. Well I did get the lead but decided to go the whole hog and get the new ts55r while I was at it ;D

Warren at bunnys bolts / toolfest is doing a few good deals at the moment one of which is the ts55r (saw in systainer only) for £223+ vat. I couldn't resist ,time to dust off my old one and eBay it now.

Yeah great saw btw, I got one too. Do you think festool should include a pair of rail clamps with the purchase?  I think it would be considered part of the safe operation of the tool.

I must admit that first impressions are that it's not as well built as the old one. Just little things like the depth marker doesn't line up very well with the scale. The bevel gauge is the same it doesn't seem to be on the 0 mark. Where as the old saw gauges were dead on. I'm sure it's something I will get used to.

I like all the other new bits on the saw. Might have to get new splinter guards for my rails again though as mine are cut pretty close to the ally and the new saw might not adjust that close, according to the supplemental manual.

totally agree, mine doesn't sit at zero and it cuts fairly rough even with a new blade.

Ive found while adjusting the bevel, you have to make sure that the saws base plate is sitting flat, with you holding it,  on a solid surface (dont try to bevel it while holding it in the air)

Warren is an excellent dealer.

Why not keep the old TS and save up for the CMS - it makes a brilliant portable table saw which I have found to be more accurate and useful than my big old machine.

I used to have loads of Elektra Beckum kit - now just my bandsaw and planer/thicknesser. They are a good company now subsumed into Metabo.

I have just done the same and replaced my ts55 from ffx
I sold my old one on ebay,  when i factor in claiming back the vat and the new blade in the new saw I'm about £15 up
