Got my big blue baby yesterday...

The only hose I use is the one I linked. There is no other (air) hose between the turbine and gun.

My Q4 came with a blue rubber hose and leaded, the replacement I bought is blue also (use this for a water hose now). I recall the original leader being blue, replacements I purchased were black.

Hmm, I always though that you'd have a less heat dissipation the closer the gun is to the turbine?  I've seen videos where a Fuji turbine and just the 6' leader were used which is the worse yet because it sucks any overspray back through the turbine.

The hose I linked is 25'. Same length as the blue hose that came with my Q4.

I feel the thinner/spiral wall allows heat to dissipate better. Could be wrong, wouldn't be the first time.

That's true.

I've had a Q4 system with 3 spray guns for 4-5 years. Been every pleased with the performance. The standard 25' blue hose has been the only annoyance because it's so stiff. I've always used a whip hose at the gun to provide the flexibility/agility needed to get inside cabinets or around parts being sprayed.

I also went with the PPS cup system a few years ago, no leaks, easier cleanup and also decent long term storage if needed with the cups capped.

I do like that hose linked because it looks so much more flexible, almost the same design as a whip hose.

Some info about why someone's Q4 was black. The original Q4 units were painted black but soon after Fuji went with the blue paint scheme. The black painted and identical turbines still for sale are marketed for the spray tan industry. The guns supplied with the spray tan units are also different, not XPC or newest T style guns.

By no means are these turbines quiet. It's a myth no different than firearms suppressors shown in movies or tv shows. The turbines are essentially vacuum motors, unfortunately not Fein or Festool vacuum motors or they would really be quieter.

Enjoy the new tool.
I got my Q4 last year from Roger Phelps but it's dropped shipped directly from Fuji with a black box and Gxpc with a black handle.  How can that be old stock as the Q4 has been around for some time?  After dealing with Fuji directly about a Gxpc they sent me a whole new Gxpc kit again with a black handle.

The X series guns are not all the same. The air cap sets are not interchangeable.

The blue first gen X series (blue handle) takes one type of air cap/nozzle set (discontinued). The second gen X series (black handle) takes a different air cap/nozzle set.

I learned this the hard way, lost the 4H nozzle, order a new 4H set, would not work on my first gen G-Xpc gun. Called Fuji and they had to call Rodger Phelps to find out there was a design/production change. The person on the phone from Fuji told me current Fuji ownership is not the original owners.

I believe all of the turbines are black now.

This surprised me, didn't sound correct, so I just called Roger Phelps.

The bottom feed XPC gun uses the same air caps as the gravity G-XPC gun. Blue or black handle does not matter. Fuji has discontinued the bottom feed XPC but still makes the G-XPC. All XPC guns use the same air caps. Tips will continue to be available for any XPC guns because they still make the G-XPC.

Now the new T-70 and T-75G guns do have all new air caps which are not compatible with the XPC line.

Roger is the one who supplied the info to me/Fuji previously. The air cap sets/nozzles will not interchange between first generation and second generation X guns and work. I do know the air caps/nozzles are interchangeable between the bottom feed and gravity guns of the same generation.

The two generations of X series guns. the Second gen is on the left. It has the black handle. You should be able to see the size (2nd get his the smaller of the 2) and taper difference in the nozzles.

Second generation nozzle is on the right. Again the difference should be very obvious.

Heads/air chamber of the guns, second generation is on the left. You should be able to see the difference in setback.

Below is the video I sent Fuji when I had the issues. They had never heard or seen this problem. Seeing as the new ownership had just taken over, they called Rodger. It was Rodger who explained the change and told them you could not interchange the sets (as told to me by Fuji).

One of the things I had a major problem with is I spoke to Roger on the phone when I lost the nozzle (about 6 weeks before I contacted Fuji and ordered a second incorrect set). He's the one I purchased my system from. He told me he would look up my system. This info told him which generation gun I had and still sent me the wrong parts. If he would have called me and told me the sets would not interchange I would have just order a new gun off of him. Instead he lost a customer.

The video should work thru this link. It has never been a public video. If it does not work let me know.

I have a T series gun also, full compliment of air cap sets/nozzles for it.View attachment 6

Ah, this thread heading is, "Got my big blue baby yesterday...".  Do you mean only the Q4?

Honestly Bill, my normal demeanor. I learned along time ago getting angry does me no good. I now limit my anger to a couple of seconds.

bkharmon, did you get your 3M PPS cups, collars liners and filters all straightened out yet?

I did!

UPS just dropped off my H/O cup and even though it is the 828mL cup, my 650mL liners and lids fit perfect. I will snap a few pics in a while but it appears that this will work fine. Anyone want to buy a 22 oz hard cup and collar?

This 28oz cup is a beast on top of this gun!!

Cheers. Bryan.

Thanks!

Yeah the 22oz is the same diameter.  You could still use the 22oz as a gravity feed but don't know how good or if that would work at all.  I know you'll try some water first so turn your gun upside down and pour some water where the collar rotates to check for air leaks there.  You can't hear a leak over the turbine but one can see bubbles.  I have to use two liners on my mini and large cups.

I wentb back/forth with 3M about this but like most CS, they just stop replying.

Need to know which gun. The gun determines the fitting needed.

Any cup you get needs to be an HO cup.
