I visited a regular customer of mine who's moved to a part of town I don't get to often today, and on the way back happened to pass a dealer with a big Festool demo outside. I didn't have long to stop as I was on my way elsewhere but got my hands on the new Rotex 90, and had a quick play with a Carvex as well. Didn't pay too much attention to the Carvex as I'm not a big jigsaw user, but the interchangeable bases are very neat - especially the split base. Might have just been my imagination, but the Carvex seemed quite a bit bigger than my Trion, but well-balanced.
The Rotex 90 was teriffic; surprisingly lightweight, comfortable to hold and very easy to control. The dealer/rep reckoned that (here in the UK at least) they ship with the regular delta pad and an extended pad (like the Deltex slat sanding pad) which makes it more useful. It's quite a tall sander - certainly, it felt a lot taller than my Deltex - so I can foresee some situations where it simply won't fit; having the extended pad included as standard will help, I'm sure.[CAVEAT: online suppliers only seem to show the regular delta pad, so I'm not convinced the extended pad is included

That said, if you already have a Deltex, then I'm not sure how much you'd use the delta pads, unless it becomes your 'carry everywhere' sander; personally I think I'd like to have the option of taking just the round pad and saving myself a few quid to spend on abrasives, but that's just me!
As an aside, I use Granat abrasive for the first time on the RO 90 - very nice indeed; I can see it becoming my 'standard' abrasive instead of Brilliant2.
So anyway, a very useful stop-off during a busy morning!
Cheers, Pete.
