Great cherry find at HD

Was over at HD to pick up some poplar for a shelving unit in my shop, and this piece of 1x6 cherry caught my eye sitting the middle of the small stack of dimensional cherry they sell.  Don't have an immediate use for it, but I'm sure I'll think of something for a piece with such a striking contrast between its heart- and sapwood, along with the unusual grain pattern:

I had a stroke of luck at my HD a few weeks ago. They got in a dozen or so soft maple sticks (1x3x11') and all were straight as an arrow and no strapping marks or splinters. I picked up 8 of them for my kitchen remodel. For 1.78 a foot, I had to.

Good to hear other gems in the rough are being found.

Yeah im usually at HD every other day picking up stuff for various customer projects and I easter egg their maple bins.. I've found tons of curly maple in those bins
