Guide rail storage

Was in my Festool dealer today and they have the 3m version in a wooden box and one in a cardboard box. The one in the cardboard box is bent and looks like the letter L.

I have a DeWalt track saw with 59 and 106 inch rails.  I made cases for both of them out of luan plywood and 1X softwood planned down a little thicker than the rails.  One end is removable.  My old shop had ceilings tall enough I could hang the long rail but my new one is shorter.  I plan to have a little space above the upper cabinets - when I get them built - so I can put the long rail above it.  It should be safe from damage.  I used to put pieces of trim and plastic pipe above the cabinets in my old shop.

So my question is ,
Is the rail better stored flat like Seth's or on edge? Or hung vertically from the whole on the end of the rail?
Thanks Charlie

There is the rub. I would say that hanging from the hole would cause the least amount of tension that would cause a slight curve in the rail. On a 3 meter rail, you have to have the ceiling height AND you have to be able to remove it without issue.

I would say in the long length rails, flat or on the "hump" side with the cut edge pointing up.

Cheers. Bryan.

I'm a changing mine over to an open shelf that will be suspended from the ceiling of my construction trailer. I found it at the local big box store for $5.00, 10'-0 long & 1'0 wide, don't know how I am going to fasten it to the rafters yet, because i want to use it to transport the guide rail on my ladder rack if I need it on site, but not the trailer. If you have the hight I would hang it, thats what I do with the other 3 shorter rails.
