Is the currect version of the guide rail backwards compatible?

As in, will I be able to use my ATF 55 saw with it?

I have one length of rail for the ATF55 saw, but want to extend it.  will the old one and new one join up?  maybe there is no difference in them, I have no idea, but would appreciate any help or guidance

I know the ATF 55 will work on the new rails.  But I am not entirely sure if the new & old rails can connect.  I would guess the answer is Yes.  But can't be sure myself.

I believe the older rails are essentially the same design, minus the extra "groove" on the edge furthest from the cutting edge. The extra groove was added to improve the joining ability of two rails and to use accessories like the 'stops' you can fit in those channels etc. .
