H.K 55/85 Saws - Link and questions

Hi guys, the new HK85 saw is exactly what I need, the dado/groove cutter will be a great tool for me especially in the UK with the lack of dado cutters available for the table saw.
The only reason I haven't purchased one yet is I need to know what the quality of cut is like on the dado cutter? The pictures Phil posted of the oak cuts look good but has anybody used this in sheet material? Veneered plywood for example? This would be such a useful tool for making or altering kitchen base units onsite but the rebates and dado cuts need to be neat.

Hi
Clean and whistle come to mind  [smile]
Clean cut but of course dependent on the knife condition as well

Hi Phil, thanks for the quick reply.
Guess I'll be treating myself to an early Christmas present then.
Do you know of any photos or videos of dados that have been cut in veneered ply.

Thanks.

That is pretty special looking.
I suspect that some will be grey-marketing them in...

Sign me up on that list!

One thing though, never ever show the grooving cutter to a plumber.
There would be grooved joists with copper pipe on them all over the place and floors will never be as strong again. [eek]

I have an understanding with the plumbers that I work with
They do no cutting with sawzall or  circular saw on my jobs
All drilling is done after discussion
There is always a chopsaw that they can use
If we ever get the HK 85  believe me they will see it only from distance
and touching is of limits
I have a very good relationship with all the trades but also an understanding
Everybody uses their ohn tools

I have an TSC 55, and lately my jobs have been more and more sheet goods, i love the saw and cut quality, but hate that i only own two batteries, so its either downtime charging or cutting , i have been considering the HK 85 , some questions; - would it be a good choice for sheet goods ?, - are there any melamine special blades? - how long is the cord attached to it ?

thank you all

We’ll never get an HK 85 in North America. Best we can hope for is a dual battery HKC 85. Keep your fingers crossed.

Older style 18v batteries are ridiculously cheap in the US. Something like $34. Try to get a couple shipped over.
