(Very upset) I brought this back from the states it's the DEWALT DW618B3 12 Amp 2-1/4 Horsepower Plunge Base and Fixed Base it's more out less 3 different bases for it.. Any way I was going to get the of1400.. But just wondering what every body thought of these 2 machines. I'm  between both and not sure to stick to what i have, our go green. help is needed ha
Cheers guy

Go with the 1400.  Versatile, smooth, good dust collection and you will have the ability to use the accessories which are unlike any other manufacturer.

Years ago, I bought the best Hitachi 1/2" router on the market. (I forget the model)

I haven't used it since I bought a 1400.

No comparison.

The dust collection alone is worth the price of the 1400.

But be sure to use a 36mm hose.

My dealer suggested it when I bought the router...but I had to learn the hard way.  [embarassed]

Yea I was thinking of all the extra bits I could use with it be handy but I use to love the dewalt d handle for using 1 handed..
But no dust is a big plus also.... Mmmmmmm what to do ha :)

I switch between the OF1400 and a Bosch 1617 kit.  I have a similar set of accessories for each.  I'd have to think about it quite a bit to figure out why I choose the one I do at the time I do.  But, it definitely can come down to how one or the other was left after the last use (ie quickest to setup).  I know I prefer the Bosch depth turret when I need to make multiple passes to get to final depth.  The Bosch also gets called for edge routing a lot because the fixed base has a nice low stable center of gravity.  I keep a wider base on it always.  But, the 1400 is comparitively quick and easy to setup.  The Bosch base is easier to deal with when the operation calls for a customized base.  DC is similar and honestly depends on the operation to which works better.  The Bosch does suffer from some quality issues, I've had to replace quite a few parts on it and it's starting to make some nasty noises.
