Ok,
All you Festool pros, this is the question
How do you join a handrail together?

I have a baby domino and I am  wondering what the processes is?
What size cutter?
And any other tidbits of knowledge you can pass along.
I don't have the round  attachment for the domino .
I just found out that I am doing the project (Tuesday) and don't think I can get one in time.
Do you glue-domino-pin nail?
Thanks
Charlie

I'm in the midst of a porch project where I used straight railing stock but needed to do some curves. Sadly, I did NOT use plain round railing stock... I used some oak railing stock, profile 9100 (lots of places carry this profile, including HD). I made some 15 degree angle cuts (yay Kapex!) to do a curve, then joined the pieces with two 8mm Dominoes (one on top of the other). Very strong, easy to line up. Interesting to glue up, but ultimately it worked well and looks good. It would have been easier to use just plain round stock- then you could do angles in any direction and plane. With the profiled stock, you have to work with the pieces of the rail flat. Interesting project...

What kind of rail stock are you using?

I don't know for sure, but I think the sme stuff.
Home owner is getting it at HD.

I think it just has to return back to the wall,so nothing to fancy.
I was thinking 8mm or 10mm and glue .

Thanks for the tips,
Charlie

Not sure what type of handrail you are trying to join, or what type of join it is.

Tennon and dowel if the project warrants it, otherwise dominoe or zip bolt are fine, with plenty of glue.

I will be on the job on Tuesday ,so I will see what the home owner wants then.
I just wanted to get a head start on my options.
Thanks,Charlie
