Hard wire df 500

@Crazyraceguy It sounds like he means to replace the socket on the tool with a standard mains cable so it's permanently wired.

Which would be a bit fugly in practice unless you were handy with a 3D printer to cover up the nastiness.

The cable supplied with the tool🙄
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that your disdain for the Plug It puts you in a very small minority. I've joined my cable and dust hose together and use one cable for every tool with all the other cables in a closet. No wad of cord in the tool case. Even without that, the cord coils better and stores easier when removed.

Is your difficulty with getting the cable attached? detached?

A lot of folks are doing the exact opposite...changing their hard wired tools to use a Festool Plug-it.

These days I am either Plug-It or Cordless for all handheld tools. I keep the heavier Plug-It cable and dust extraction hose on my Work Center. Works for me.

I also really like the Plug-It connector, makes storing the tools a bit neater in my book, and although I was worried about how robust they are, i've had zero problems over the years with them..

@luvmytoolz I was completely on the other end of this. I assumed "hard wired" was at the receptacle end, not capable of being disconnected.

For me, and the way I work, the Plug-It cable is one of the greatest features. It is a genuine disappointment to me the RAS 115 does not have it. I also converted my TS60 as soon as I could get the parts.
I do essentially the same as @jeffinsgf, keeping a cable on the CT and swapping between tools, the extras are in a drawer.

I have only had one Plug-It issue. My TS55 needed to be sent in for repair because it had lost power. Festool Service called and said I needed a new plug it cord in addition to the repair. I have a bunch of Plug-it and told them no need to send a new one.

There was/is a Festool ‘Hardwire kit’ that is specifically for ETS 150 EQ and RO 150 FEQ Part #492780

Here’s a picture:

Don’t know if it would work - as is - with the DF 500, but it might be a starting point if you’re looking to, maybe 3D print, something for a DF 500 coversion.

Kind regards,
Oliver
