This is directed at those amongst us who have experience finishing wood floors. I have a friend who needs to refinish her wood floors. The house had suffered from a fire. The flors were not directly damaged from fire but perhaps some water damage and/or damage from the renovation. At any rate, they are going to be sanded back to bare wood and refinished. She is looking for the best finish to hold up to the traffic they will get from several big dogs. It seems the original finish was subject to quite a bit of scratching from their nails and she wants to improve on that circumstance this time around. So what finishes hold up the best to this type of wear? The floors are white oak.

I have had great success with the Bona line.  Bona Mega specifically.  You can add bona traffic to it to make it even more durable.

It is a water based and you can seal and apply all finish coats in one day and there is no smell.

What Darcy said.

Being water base it will have very little affect on the color/tone of the floor. Check to make sure you like what you get before doing the entire floor.

Waterlox tung oil. Durable and reasonable to maintain.

Since the folks are back in the house already (screw-up between the insurance company and an overly optimistic contractor) they will probably prefer the water based one day approach. I will pass on the info. Thanks, Guys.
