Has the MFS Router Template System been discontinued?

Just curious [member=44099]Cheese[/member] do you have a specific need for the 2000 extension profiles, or are you just planning ahead in case you ever have to rout an arc with a 6ft radius?

I'm was considering them, but I can't come up with a specific application in the near term that would justify it.

I just snagged the 700 extensions from another, as yet unnamed source...

That's funny Edward...because I just snagged the 2000 versions instead.

Yikes...seems like Edward & Cheese are now full fledged members of Needle Park.  [eek]

A quick cut and you can have 2 sets of 1000mm extrusions.  [big grin]

Except they won't have scales.  [wink]

I just love the MFS 400/700 system because it's so easy, accurate and repeatable. Just used them last week for recessed drawer pulls and the pockets were within .008"-.010". I used to make templates out of aluminum/hardboard and it took longer to make the templates than the routing job took.

So I have nothing in particular in mind right  now for the 2000 profiles, but they will get used. I can guarantee that. They may even get cut to a custom length.

Well, as for in Europe. A friend at the makerspace is trying to get a MFS 400 in Germany and it's unavailable right now and his dealer says that he doesn't know when it will be available...Nobody can't get any info apparently from what he says. I just found that topic here and from what I can read here, it seems like maybe it will be gone here too. I was thinking about getting one somedays too.  [crying]

FWIW...I just received the MFS 2000 extrusions and noticed that there are NO length markings on the one edge. So I called Festool service and talked with Eric, he stated that neither the MFS 1000 or 2000 have length markings.  [sad] [sad]

I know the 2000 doesn't have them but I'm pretty sure the 1000 profile does.

Right, the 1000 absolutely does.

Got my 700 on a discount at my local supplier. It was further down on my list, but did not want to miss out and got a good deal. It should pair well with my MFS400 and 1000 profiles. Sad this thing is being discontinued as it is such a handy tool to have.

What a bummer - was using my MFS 700 today and one of the 700 profiles fell off my MFT and onto the concrete floor of my shop - each inside corner got dinged!  [mad] Found a set of 700 profiles online, but they are scarce to say the least and not discounted. But, I need a new one to use my set. Expensive mistake on my part...now I guess I will have an extra profile in case if happens again.

Can you not file them and make the ding ok?  I have dropped mine and was able to file them and they work fine.  After that I made a box for my two sets for better protection.

Yeah - I tried filing them and got some of the mushroom out, but they are not flat on one corner now - not huge, but a little off. Cannot believe my luck. Such is life. I am going to make a box for the 700 profiles. My 200 and 400 fit fine in a Systainer.

I have a 400 set and a 700 set.  I had considered getting a couple of 1000 profiles.
Guess i should'a done more than "consider"  [scratch chin]

Wow this is news.
We MFS sold as before, but the price tag ... $ 550 for MFS-700-Set
If someone needs them, then ...

Anyone know of a local US dealer that has a MFS 400 (492610) or the 200 MM extension (492722) in stock? I've contacted all of the US online dealers with no luck. Spoke with Festool USA and they can't tell me who has any in inventory. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

If not, check a few posts up for an International option some US buyers have used with good result.

And,  [welcome] to the FOG!
