Just received my brand new TS 55 REQ, 1400 and 3000 rails and excited to try it out on a cabinet project. I pulled it out of the box this evening (of course it's a weekend and customer service is closed), set up the 1400 rail, tightened the cams and went to cut the splinter guard for the initial setup. The saw started just fine, plunged, cut a few inches of the splinter guard, then stopped dead. No smoke, no signs of something going awry, just dead. I can't get it to turn back on. The Fluke says there's 120V to the cord end. I'm locking the cord in, tried locking down and releasing the fast fix (I found that suggestion on another post). Nothing. Any ideas out there? Am I missing something?

Erik

Sorry for the problem on a new TS55.  Either take it to the dealer where you purchased or call Festool on Monday morning and I'm sure they can help you get it replaced quickly.

Welcome to the forum, BTW.  Report back what you find and we look forward to you sharing some projects here.  Lot's of talent and a helpful group.

Have you truly locked in the power cord - when new the fittings are very stiff and I find it easier to cant the saw over with respect to the base plate and then securely twist the power connector with full force.  Without canting the saw from the base plate (ie loosen angle fixings and lifting the saw), I cannot get my hand in sufficiently to fully turn and lock the connector past the physical 'click' that one needs to feel to ensure a fully locked connector.

Suggest trying once more and ensure that the main connector is fully locked, you may think it is, however, is this really the case?

Thanks for the suggestion. I don't really feel a click in the power cord. It's really difficult to twist but I've twisted as hard as I feel I can without breaking the damned thing. When in the locked position, where (maybe a clock reference) is the unlock symbol on the power cord? Mine is at about 10:30 or 11. I just tried again and hear a little grunt from the motor for about 1/2 a second, then nothing.

Welcome to the forum!

I think that if you've got the cord even close to tight it would still do more than grunt a little.

I'd bring Festool in on it.

Yeah, will do on Monday. Just trying to make sure it's not pilot error before I return the thing.

There are two pins inside the receptacle on the saw. Let’s call the bottom one 6pm and the top one 12. Just above the top one (12) on the saw housing there is a little embossed line. Once you put the cord in there and twist, the left pointing arrow on the cord should line up with that embossed line. If you are there then you have the cord all the way locked.
