Hi ,i have bought Ctl Midi a two days ago, today I have connected the Ctl Midi and iPhone X with bluetooth connection via Festool App and I have done the software update I have made a screenshoot(attachment). Note that the Ctl midi was fully functional before update.
The update went all good, but then the Ctl showed no signs of life, I have tried virtually everything. Are there reset possibility or something else or do I need to send the Ctl back to Festool?

Regards and thank you for your help!

Hi,

Sorry you are having trouble with it. It is not something I know much about. I am betting another forum member can help or

Damn. That sucks.

EU or US version?

You did try to press the the man(ual) button right?

Does the green ligt not come on at all?

If so does the blue light come on when you press the BT button?

You have remote, doesn’t work either?

I got a EU version, few months old. Didn’t see a update.

Everything was fine until the update, it's a EU version. As i said there is not a single sign of life, no green light, no bluetooth blue light, there is nothing i can do. Here is the last known state of Ctl, as you see in attachment everything was ok.

Strange. Maybe the pulled the update? Since I see no new update, and never updated it myself.

Give them a call. Im sure they can fix it.

You did pressed the on/off switch hard enough? Its not really a “touch” button.

I have pressed the on/off button 100x times until now and nothing happens. Update or any kind of reset is impossible to make because Festool app sees the Ctl not, it's listed as "out of range".
Im thinking if there is any kind of reset button but so far i haven't  found one.

You tried like keeping the on/off pressed for some time? Or on/off withe the BT button together? Very strange, since you said the update was finished ok :/

I have tried that also but no, it simply won't start.
Damn. Thats sucks big time.

Got the same combo. Please us know what FT tells you (assuming you call them). Now I wouldn’t even dare to update :/

Maybe a long shot but, have you checked the fuse?
No i haven't , but correct me if i am wrong, to check the fuse i must disassemble the Ctl and then there is a big chance of loosing my warranty?

I think my best shoot will be too call Festool tomorrow and sort this out.

No, I mean the fuse in the plug. Not sure of your location but, in the UK our plugs have fuses, in this case it would be a 13amp fuse, that can be swapped out in seconds.

Interesting, any idea where the fuse would be on 'normal' (lol) EU machines? Just had a look at the plug-it connector, not sure about that. And a google "replace festool fuse" doesn't yield much of a result either [huh]

Would be good to know, since these things tend to happen after hours or in the weekend  [big grin]

To be honest, I never gave it much thought. Anything we plug into a 240 volt socket in little old England, nearly always has a fused plug. Some say it’s the best plug and socket system in the world, which it probably is from what I’ve seen on my travels.

The plug fuse is normally the first thing we check when there’s no power in a device. If not in the plug, the machines must have protection elsewhere I’d imagine. A first line of defence so to speak?

Hehe, well, I agree functional [big grin] its a smart and generic solution for fuse, yet the plugs look awfully bulky. But that might just me... [tongue]

Anyway, indeed there should be somewhere a fuse, and general rule of thumb is that you should not completely disassemble the machine [scared]. Thats what triggered my interest, fuse-wise ... So anyone that could shine some light on this, much appreciated.

[member=65767]threesixright[/member] Yes they are indeed bulky, and that is because of the safety aspect, fuse etc. When plugged in, they feel well anchored though, better than anything else I’ve tried.

They aren’t great if you happen to tread barefoot, in the middle of the night, on an upturned one though! [doh] [oops] Very painful lol.

This fuse thing is niggling me now, there must be one somewhere? [scratch chin]

Same here [big grin]. I was already checking IKAT, but no dice [scratch chin]

Strange!

No fuse - except for the one in the UK plug(s).

Read about the plug, design, fuse (and use thereof) here:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AC_power_plugs_and_sockets:_British_and_related_types

In regard to the OP, I'm sorry, I can't help with the issue/problem.

But it is certainly my worst nightmare: Rendering perfectly good tools useless because of a botched software update/ glitch while updating and no error message/ description. I guess this is becoming the new norm soon. Definitely a big turn off for me, I will skip stuff like this as long as somehow possible. My Apple stuff is giving me, and has been giving me enough headaches by now.

Kind regards,
Oliver
