Here's where all the Pro 5 sanders went...

Did you mean Rockler?  Woodcraft continues to be a dealer for Festool....

Yes I did...thanks for that. [big grin] I was thinking last night that I needed to visit Woodcraft today and purchase some more sandpaper.

Until we know more info on who is behind this and if it's even legit, I'm not jumping to any conclusions.

(And I'm on a family trip this weekend, so I'm signing off for the day.)

Please explain why this kind of thing happens, so many people have been waiting so long for the Pro 5

I was tempted, but I thought I have the best random orbit made, and the best 1/2 sheet made, and a used DX93 for. Corners... Do I really need a cut rate sander just for a discount coupon?

Holmz I didn't know you got yourself an ETS EC or a DS2. LOL. As far as the the Pro5 it's a good 5" and it has a place in any lineup. Do you actually post anything positive about Festool products?

I don't read many of your posts but you always seem to talk about Lamello, Mafel and Mirka. Don't they have their own sites where you guys can drink Red and Yellow Koolaid.

As far as the guy selling in Toronto I think its wrong but shows Festool another way the screwed up this promotion badly. It goes hand in hand with allowing Amazon.ca the ability to give an to 30% off sale on Festool.

John

Well I got a couple thousand dollars worth of FT gear last year, but I am getting selective.
I am still resisting getting a BS105, but I think it may be the only 4" belt sander with a frame... And I need to make sure it is good, but I think it is.
I heard about the Mirka here, but I doubt they have a yellow koolaid group??.
I also like to see what is going on so I know what to look for or what tricks people are doing.

And when the weather cools I will be getting back to doing some projects... So there is hope.
Today was a lot cooler than over the weekend.

Then there is also the fact that whatever position one takes, I like to consider and present the contrarian perspective.  [wink]

The thing that actually makes me irritated about this photo is the lackadaisical attention to the orientation of the locks.
That and all the bottom ones are sitting on the asphalt and have probably been slide around a bit which means they all have scratched up bottoms.

I felt the same way in November.  Watching people profit from selling the kits or parting them out.  Festool wouldn't comment on the resellers at the time either.

Thanks to a local dealer, I picked-up my Pro 5 Ltd a few weeks ago.  Hopefully adding another Festool product this week too.

We don't know the full story, but I'm struggling to come up with a scenario that doesn't paint Festool in a bad light for having a lack of internal controls to stop this happening. I'd also wouldn't be surprised if this isn't an isolated incident and goes a long way to explaining why the delivery is taking such an unfathomable amount of time.

I looked into this and got some more information. This ad is not from a dealer, but apparently from an individual who has acquired the merchandise from a third party, one who may or may not be a legitimate Festool dealer.

As a manufacturer who sells only to authorized dealers, we are not in a position to control aftermarket activities involving our products, however we would caution anyone thinking about acquiring some of this merchandise to perform their own due diligence.  Buying Festool, or any other product for that matter, from unauthorized aftermarket sources opens one up to the possibility of acquiring substandard, counterfeit or even stolen merchandise.  Remember, when dealing with unknown parties, the old adage holds doubly true. Caveat Emptor.

The natives are restless and won't be happy until there's someone dangling at the green gallows.

Someone at Festool could buy one of those and trace the serial number. Will also get you some details on the seller.

Youi get be right, but what is the point?
The had a promo offer, and people bought it or did not.
Now there are an extra 80, and the ones who did not buy one are complaining.

Either way it is free advertisement for Festool, and they sold the machines... And there is no law that binds them in a parenting or moral law enforcement role.

Seems like the people complaining want the sander for their own use.  Not everyone catches deals like this on launch day.  I'm guessing some people that ordered on launch day are still waiting.

Probably the best thing that could happen to the guy with the absurd amount for sale is he gets stuck with those for a while.  His ability to acquire so many for personal gain is not exactly good publicity for Festool.
