High precision Domino jig for narrow parts

Hi All,

My first post here, just finished a short video of my Domino jig and thought someone might interested. If you are curious how I manage to keep the Festool clamps from falling down by themselves I made a short movie of that as well. This is a feature I really think Festool should design into the clamps, should be very simple using a spring loaded small ball, spring clip or something else…

An overhead laser to indicate center of mortise would be a nice addition.

Think my way of centrering the mortise in the second piece is way more accurate than a laser, check the YouTube film [smile]

Thanks! That's valchromat, a harder through coloured type of mdf. You can use any material of Choice.

Finally took the time to watch the video. I’m often reluctant to watch videos because so many of them waste so much of the viewer” time. Your video is a great exception. Very concise presentation of real information about a very useful invention. Well done!

Your way of locating the mortise on small parts is very accurate. A laser might help on bigger parts beyond the range of calipers but I’m sure you’d find a more accurate way to do that as well.

Thank you for your comments. I try to present my ideas in a short and (for most woodworkers) understandable way without too much "noise" that doesn't add anything. Really glad you liked my video.

I'll add my thanks and intention to steal that idea forthwith

For times when you want to exactly mirror the main stop distance from the centre of the bit I'd wonder if something operating like a ruler or t-track with a stop on it could be used. It could reference from the side of the Domino machine and fixed fences with the moveable stop referencing of the main stop. Could be easier than cutting a reference piece indexing off the pins?
