Finally got around to finishing this off. Came out ok I reckon considering timber from the scrap bin lol.

Wow, that is so incredibly creative!!  I love the design, and great that you were able to use up some scraps.

[member=64076]LooseSox[/member] - did you join/glue the joints of the outer wooden frame before pouring, or is the epoxy holding the frame together? Also, what was your final sanding grit size and finish used?

Frames were just glued with PVA and tacked down with hot glue in the mood to stop them floating when I poured the epoxy. Black oxide to colour the epoxy. Sanded to 320 then 3 coats hardwax oil and finished off with a coat of wax buffed with the RO150
 
That's one of those tables that turns out to be such an "art piece" that it's a shame to put anything on it. It looks great.
I ran into this a few years ago when I made some intricate patterned cutting boards for some family members. None of them were ever used.
