Hinges and 32mm line bore problem.

Hello I am looking for a little help on installing some hinges in cabinets I have recently built. I will post pictures when they are complete and can post pictures for my challenge if needed.

I drilled 5mm holes down the front/back of the cabinets. They run the full length of the cabinet. I was waiting on my Blum 110 soft close hinges to arrive and once they arrived I realized that while the holes line up with the plate. The screws I ordered were smaller than the 5mm hole. So I ordered some of the 6mm pozi screws. While these screws will fit into the 5mm hole that I created they are too big to go through the hinge plate. So do I simply offset the plate and cover up one of the 5mm holes or am I missing something? Did I order the wrong type of hinge? I have searched high and low and all hinge related topics and videos I can find do not address my challenge. Looking for some guidance from the experts that have done this before.

I have been reading this great forum for some time but this is my first post. I currently own the following and this is just a hobby. I could not justify the LR32 setup so the holes were drilled with the rockler jig. Although it worked okay I would have rather used the LR32.

For 5mm holes the easiest thing to use are Blum's Expando mounting plates. You can see them at the beginning of this excellent thread: http://festoolownersgroup.com/member-projects/euro-cabinets-101-2-a-beginner%27s-guide/

Another solution, if the mounting plates you already have are the 2-piece Blum ones with an aluminum alloy underside, simply drill the holes slightly bigger (in the plate, not the cabinet) and use 5mm euro screws with 8mm heads. I can not throw any more light on your problem,it is a bit of an odd one pherhaps one option would be to return them to your supplier if redrilling the base plates is not an option.

you have a good setup of festools there. the lr32 system would not cost a great deal if you buy the basic set and sell a none lr32 guide rail and replace it with a lr32 prepared rail.

The Blum hinges should have come with the plastic gromets on the base plate. I also drill 5mm holes for all my hinges and the gromets fit perfect and then expand when the provided screw is screwed in.

I think you have the right screws.If you have what i think you do,you just need to drive the screws into the mounting plate.It is a little hard at first but it should go in.

BTW,How much bigger are we talking about?

It sounds like your baseplates are for woodscrew attachments that are for either a #6 or #7 screw.  The 5mm holes are for the system screws or the expando dowels.  The solution is to order replacement baseplates for your hinges.  One other thing you will need to determine is the baseplate height required for your application.  Use the Blum catalog to determine this based on your required overlay.
