Hi Folks.
I've been watching as many videos as I can find on Youtube of the HK 85 with the rebate head, and there are some great ones out there. Especially Phil Begly and Dave Stanton. Very informative.

I have to cut 74 roof rafters in 50x150 stock, and was wondering if any can tell me if its possible to use the trenching tool whilst the saw is tilted on the bevel, so that I can gang cut the birds mouth??

Best Regards Rich

Rich,
I don't think the HK85 was designed for that purpose. The safety guard's design appears to limit any sort of bevel to achieve the required depth of cut for a birdsmouth rebate. You also would have to do multiple passes and figure out the position and depth of cut for each pass.
Check out the HK85's big brother, HK132E. This is the model you need to produce the cuts that you require, but for just 75 rafters, I don't think the cost is justified!
This is also a rebranded Protool model CSP132E. There are plenty of videos on YouTube to see it in action.
Hope this gives you some food for thought.
Regards, Alan.

Hi Rich
The HK 85 with the block fitted can only be used for rebates, grooves and housings. It is not able to be angled with the block attached and the depth would also be very small. The HK132 is the machine for this type of application

Hi Gents.

Many thanks for your help.  You just saved me the purchase of a rebate head.

Cheers Rich
