FWIW...here's some 2" thick aromatic cedar.

The top piece was ripped with a TSC and a Panther blade.
The bottom piece was ripped with an HKC and a Panther blade.

true, i can try denser lumber. like you guys say, it could be the lumber.

I think he's just trying to understand whether the cut quality is indicative of a problem.  Looking at the picture on a larger monitor, the 3rd piece down on the left side appears to be decent while the rest are ragged, which would suggest it's the wood, not the blade.  Try it again on something more dense?

Hey there!

Forgot my login and been a busy bee. Hope all is well with you! Don't have much to add to the discussion other than that the HKC55 is not a very smooth cutting machine for finer materials. It can do it, but off cuts are worse than the plunge saw and the edges not as clean. I love the HKC55 but it is not a replacement for any of my plunge saws. It ain't all that.

I love my HKC...used with a finer blade they cut plywood materials just fine from my experience.  On thicker material I definitely stick with the ripping blade and get stellar results.  Wouldn’t get rid of mine.
