home made boom arm

Inquiring about the diameter(imperial please) of the festool boom arm?  I am in the process of making my own (more money for tools) out of PVC/Aluminum, but with the purchase of the hose clamps from Festool attached to the arm. 

Any information would be helpful, I will be attempting a different design approach and mounting option.  I plan on documenting the process and will keep the group posted.

I've made two different ones with aluminum tube, schedule 80 pvc and office chair bases.  I use velcro strips on my vac hoses to connect the power cord and to the booms.

I just made a one and attached it to a swivel from the room. It is over my large center table and works great, actually I need to upload some pictures of it with the hose and cords on it..... [big grin]
