Homemade Sysport question:
If I remember correctly, all the Sysports I've seen pictures of have the Systainers running the long way across the front, which leaves the labels showing (if they haven't fallen off).
I'm thinking of making one where the Systainers fit with the long way going front to back. I would then have two columns of Systainers. I'd make the drawers deep enough to hold some supplies, and use drawer slides long enough to put the entire Systainer in front of the cabinet, by about an inch or so. This would let me open the Systainer from the side. I'd put the hinges on the left column on the left so you can open it toward you from (partially) in front of the right column. Reverse everything on the right.
Of course, I'd have to put labels on the ends of the Systainers.
The advantage is a deeper (hence more stable) cabinet (about 2 feet), without doing the front-and-back thing. It would also have a narrower front that a regular two-column Sysport. A short version of this would probably fit pretty well under a workbench or an MFT.
Am I missing something here? Is there something I'd be sorry for if I tried it?
Thanks in advance for any comments.
