Well, I just picked up a Barrel grip new trion with the $55 pack of blades for $235 or so.  There are deals to be had, you have to be willing to put up the number you will pay at the get go.  Someone just scored the 1400 router with accessories (VS600 + Jigs) + other stuff worth a total of about $1200 for $780.  I bid upto $777...

Now I've got to sell my D-handled Trion.

Everytime I think ebay's a good way to buy things, I realize it's a good place to sell more so.  Write a good ad, have nice pics and you'll sell it no matter what.

Having said that, I've not posted there for a year or so - I've been doing all my tool selling through CL.  It's free and fast, but not without it's own set of drawbacks.

Curious, what are the drawbacks of Craig's List (have a barely used AT 55 saw that hidden away in a cabinet I should sell)?

A lot of Tire-kickers.  That, and the fact that depending on what you are selling - it would sell for more on Ebay.  On CL - there are a lot of casual browsers like myself, who only buy when the deal is really good.

A lot of casual browsers on Ebay too, of course, but there are also tons of people actively searching for what it is you are selling.

I did a lot of Ebay years ago - I have about 220 feedbacks, but haven't listed anything for over a year there.

As to Craig's List, I have listed many tools and some have sold. I sold 2 scrollsaws and just last week my ATF55 saw and rails. Took some time but got a great price I thought from an avid woodworker building a house. I just did not want to try shipping due to the cost and risk of damage as I didn't have the original packing materials - had just ordered the TS55.

I've noticed that on ebay people frequently pay more for a used Festool (after they add the large shipping fee) than what a new one would cost (free shipping).  I once bid $300 for a used mft1080 and hadn't met the reserve.  Festools hold their value but I am going to need to save more than a couple dollars before I buy a used one.
I searched Craig's list every week for a month and Festool never even came up on a search.

I posted it here a while back, but a few months ago - (I check CL tools a few times a day), I happened upon a 45minute old post listing a ton of Festool items for $800.

Ended up with:
CT22
Trion saw
TS55
Rotex150 (2) 55" rails
Tons of accesories

all for $800 - near as I could figure a solid $1900 worth of Festool items - most new and un-used.

I drove up there so fast it was silly.
