Sydney is hot - very, very hot. [eek]

There's a projection of temps hitting 54C in parts of Australia over the next few days. That's 130F, not far from the Death Valley record.

Yeah, it sure looks like you and the Russians could equalize your temps if you added them up... Yulara/AUS +43C -> Namtsy/RUS -47C  [cool]

We are enjoying a refreshing -1C...-5C and sleet sideways here in Helsinki  [sad]

I think I'd still rather be in Australia at this moment...  [tongue] [tongue]

Right now it's right around freezing here in Pittsburgh.  We're expecting temps to reach 60°F (15°C) by the end of the week. [thumbs up]

its somewhere betwwen 7-12 degrees C here lately.
54C  wow. i would pass out.
30 C and im bet

How does the Aussy climate influence the temperature feeling? I know that over here in central western Europe the air humidity makes that the temperature always feels more extreme. I knew some Canadians that came over in the winter and they had -35 in Canada, and it was only -5 here, and they couldn't believe how cold it was outside, saying they had never been so cold in their entire lives!

It's the same in the summer, once it reaches 30 C old people literally drop dead, and any physical activity becomes a torture.

I grew up in Houston and during most of the summer, it's commonly 95-100 degrees F (35-38 C) and 95-99% humidity, or so my memory goes...

Here in Austin, it seems like the humidity is typically lower and sometimes a lot lower but it can easily break 110 for a day or so here and there. The last few years have been bad but for about 8 months, it's nice.

The secret to enjoying summers here and in Houston is A/C and water activities.

There, I fixed your quote Tom. [tongue]

Thanks, Brice, but I'd rather have to go swimming, sailing, or water skiing than have to go shovel snow...

We actually drove through it two days ago on the Hume Highway on our way home from New South Wales. Temp outside the car topped out at 38C, but we made it through before all the fires started along the way and got home to a refreshing night of rain in Melbourne. I don't know if I could have stayed in Albury another night.  [eek]

Extremes in Oz and the humidity factor vary greatly relative to your distance from the coast and a few other factors. I'm smack bang on the coast, so hree humidity isn't as bad as other parts.

Te next day and the temperature has plummeted ... 20C less for the same times of day. Blanket on the bed tonight!

i was in kosova last year. it was 40 C the first day but droped to 30 and i was cold.
its all about what you are used to or aclimated to

Its suprising how a human body can adapt to temperature changes. I did a round the world trip a few years ago and started with x'mas in Canada with some -20C and flew from there to Hawaii / Big Island for new year in less than 24h of transit to a super humid +30C and acclimitized to both in less than three days. Then did New Zealand after new year for a couple of weeks of 'midsummer' nice and warm and then back to Beijing / China for a spell of winter again on the way home. Worst bit was actually hauling the winterish clothes around the warm parts of the journey.

you should have chosen your airline better. mine is able to send bags to diferent locations on every trip. intentional or not. pity you couldnt do that on a trip like this. have two bags, one hot one cold and ship them accordingly

And what's this thing called humidity?  [smile]

Sitting at a comfortable 20 degrees Fahrenheit here in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I wish it was colder. The ice would from quicker :)

Just got this from a friend in South Africa.
"its official. i fuken hate summer. this morning 6am ready for my walk with elrika and its 21 deg, then along comes 1pm and its 47 on the stoep. the only way to stay cool is to be wet the whole day. now my beloved husband has decided that a curry pot, made on the fire, at 37 deg (at 6pm by the way) is the only way to go. jislaaik. bring on winter"

Of course, in my next home, Maui, it is going to be a high of 81 F and a low of 64 F all week, and next week, and the week(s) after!
