How can I remove the end from my vacuum hose?

I want to put PEX mesh over my hose and power cord but It is very difficult.  I read that it is much easier if you first remove the end from the vacuum hose.  I don't have a clue of how to safely remove and then reinstall the hose.

Can someone please advise me of how to do it?

TIA,  Joe

If you look at the hose end you will see two slots.  Push a screw driver in those to release the locking ring.  Then you can unscrew.  Remember the order for re installation.

Was this the small diameter anti-static hose? I recently did this, and it wasn't that hard after I figured out a couple of things.

1. The mesh has a larger diameter when you squish it together (finger trap effect)
2. Use blue tape at the ends to minimize fraying after getting the stuff on.

Thanks fellas, both tips worked like a charm.

Pictures, pictures. If you don't show pictures of the completed operation, it doesn't exist.  :)

I used rubber splicing tape, didn't have shrink tubing that big, thinking I would switch it later, months now and it looks like the day it put it on

While this is the logical approach, another member here pointed out that it is much simpler to simply stick your finger down the end of the fitting, on the inside, and press against the locking ring as you unscrew so that the whole fitting can be removed (or reinstalled) as one piece.  This works great and is easier on the two tabs/slots too.
