How to make a shelf apron with a 1/2" top and bottom?

Hey all,
I need to build a pull out shelf out of 3/4" material with an apron all the way around.
The shelf needs to have 1/2" of material above and below the 3/4" shelf.
I hope I am making this clear!
How do I use my Domino to make the tenons in the 5/8" apron material?
I know I am missing something easy here!

I know how to do it but not sure how to put it in words...Here goes.
You would set the fence on the domino to center the domino on the apron then use the same setting to set the distance from the edge of the shelf.
Hope that makes sense.

I believe that you would move your fence the equivalent of the difference of height. Once you've dominoed the 3/4" material, set your fence 12.7 mm higher and that will give you a 1/2" difference of height! Doing it this way doesn't force you to have to be dead center on both pieces but close is what you want for sure. Let me know if that works for ya!

PS don't forget to adjust your depth setting if you're only going into 5/8" thick stock. I don't know what size tenon you're using but just keep that tucked away in your mind!

Your apron piece should be 1 3/4" tall. Thickness of your choice, make sure you set the plunge depth not to go through. The apron will be mortised laying flat.

Draw a line 1/2" from an edge of the apron, set the non-splinter edge of your guide rail along this line, you will need to support the splinter gaurd edge of the rail with the same thickness material. Clamp the rail. With the fence of the Domino not extended, the Domino vertical place the bottom edge of the Domino against the edge of the guide rail. This will set the center of the cutter 10 mm from the 1/2" line. After these cuts, extend the Domino fence, set the fence to 20, this will place the center of the cutter at 10 mm. Make a test cut, it should place the reference edge of the test piece on the line. You may want to support the free edge of the Domino.

Easier to do than type.

If you keep in mind the 10 mm to the center of the bit, all cuts are easy.

Thanks a ton!!
I did it your way this evening, and all pull out shelves turned out absolutely perfect!
I knew there had to be a simple way of doing it!
I actually made a jig that I clamped to my MFT, then slid the apron pieces up to the stop, and then
cut them, worked fast and simple!

I'm glad it work out for you, and my gibberish came across clearly enough.

I meant to edit my post and mention if you have an MFT, just drop the guide rail on the 1/2" line. Time did not allow it today.

If you look around for some of my posts you will find I use a lot of jigs and stops.

As long as you remember that 10 mm offset, layout and fit ups become easy. If you look at the edge of the Domino there is a shoulder that's top edge is also at the 10 mm centerline. No matter which cutter, it is 10 mm to the center line.

I had a few people asking me how I did it, and if I had any photos. so here goes...
Remember, it was Tom's idea not mine!
The first photo shows the jig clamped to MFT, the far left piece of wood is the apron I am cutting the dominoes into.
The second photo shows the rail in place on top of the apron.
And of course, the final photo shows the cutting.
