how to save interesting threads? for future reference and watching.

I suppose replying is one legitimate way to mark interesting threads, but it seems that the suggestion is to reply merely for the purpose of marking them rather than that you actually have a response. I would hope people wouldn't do that. For me, that just clutters up the FOG and I would suppose creates the possibility that the volume of responses on the FOG will increase significantly just for the purpose of marking threads even if these responses are very small amounts of actual data.

I think saving the URL/link to a folder in your browser works very well. It works for me.

Check the link I posted above.  I believe that it does exactly what everyone is looking for.  I use it and find it very handy especially since I can access it from anywhere.

For what it's worth, my guess is this would be a fairly simple add-on to the forum's software.  Where it says your username and the 3 green buttons "unread, replies, logout" there could be a "Subscribed" button as well.  I'm not sure what platform the FOG forum is based on, but I know many plugins that make this an easy addition.

It'd be on my "wish list".

Right. That notification is by email. There's no list of "subscribed threads" like you do in vBulletin where you can pick and choose which threads to list, just the ones you've replied to or the ones you haven't read.

I am curious how to eliminate uninteresting threads.

There is no "subscribed" as opposed to "notify" but the notify does create a list in your profile.

Seth,

I clicked "notify" on a couple of threads and I get emails, but I don't see where the list would be in my profile.  Am I missing something?

Thanks, Mike A.

Go to your forum profile (click profile and select "forum profile").

Then select notifications on the left hand side and you will find your list.

I just drag the thread onto my desktop. From there, i drag it to my Festoy folder

Yep - this forum uses "simple machines" - which is free.

The features you want are in vBulletin (like SawMillCreek uses) - which costs about $200 year.

As like most things in life, You get what you pay for....

Grasshopper, Thanks, I finally found it.  I wasn't doing the last step before.
