Hi Everyone

I use lock mitre jointing quite a lot, especially in MDF, and have been asked to explain the anatomy and setting up of the cutter.

Here is the video - I hope it helps.

Thank you Peter.  I was not aware of the centerlines on the cutter as explained very well by you.  I just chewed up a lot of mdf until I got it right, then kept those mdf pieces as templates for future cuts.  Thank you again for a very good video.  Bill

Infinity Tools makes a really great setup jig for lock miter joints.

Excellent - I have not heard of this setup jig before and it will be perfect for the newcomer to lock mitre work. I watched the video available from the link and it confirms the importance of the centre line that I describe in my video.

Many thanks.

Peter another great video for a very useful joint that I think not many have heard of, let alone use.  I use the lock miter for virtually every drawer I make.  I wrote a tutorial on SMC sometime back but it pales in comparison to your video.  I've seen setup blocks that Infinity and Woodpecker make but never seen reason to buy one.  Once you've set it up using my trial and error method, just run a piece of scrap through and save it for future setups.
Anyhoo,  thanks for posting!
