Hello Pals,

I am a drywall finisher.

after using the Planex i got addicted to no dust !

so i purchased the HSK 80 x 130 Hand Sanding Block.

I tried using it several times, with 150 grit and with 240 grit.

in both cases it scratches the finished mud and dusty !! i played with the setting of the AC speed and hose opening! seems the same !

and i have two questions :

1- is there a pad to put under it to make it like a sponge ? or is there a sponge sander to be attached to it?

2- can anyone explain using it on drywall step by step ! i watched all videos.

Thanks and take care

I don't have this tool, so I can't speak to the issues about dust or technique, but they do make an interface pad for the RTS 400 that uses the same size paper and might give a softer sponge-like surface for you.

Hi Bob

I use the extractable HSK's quite a bit for mud patch sanding.

I have found that it's important to open the vent on the green band at the exhaust port (as shown in photo), turn the extraction on your vac to half or less, and use Granat abrasive (220 or 240 is usually just right). Also, you don't need to scrub like with a sanding sponge. Just float.

Hello.

Here`s a couple of pictures referring to your 1. question and to w802h`s answer.

Hope this helps.

Ps. One package includes two of those pads even though it says one in the package.

Thank You Pals for your answers , i'll get  the pad & give it a try.

i am using Granat abrasive 240.

I do open the green hose thingy.. thank you alot .

This is a rebagded Mirka sander, so you my want to try their sanding screen, I love the stuff & use it with all my sanders. The Abenet HD is good for those forgotten mud piles, grinds them down in a flash. ( with an RO even faster )
