I order the Domino, I ordered the domino disk, the disks are on back order, no domino's included with the basic set.  So for the moment it is just a door stop. I cannot believe that a few of the domino's are not included with the domino cutter.
Just a little disappointed.

What is the Domino Disk?

Where are you located, my local Festool dealer would all give me a handfull of Domino's to play with.

If you were in Kansas City, I'd give you a hand full.

So when I purchased my table saw, should it have come with a few scrap pieces of wood, so I can use it?
Come on, lets try to enjoy the fact that tools like this are even available.

Mirko

Hey sroxberg, thanks, I've got magazines from you in the past.  Mirko, give me a break, I don't think this is the same thing, I can go to many wood stores and get wood.  These Dominos are not available everywhere.  What it have hurt to put a few in the box.  This is my first Festool purchase, but may be your right I should have prayed to the Festool gods before I purchased geeze.

Everett,

Surprisingly enough, when you start using this tool, you go through a lot of dominos fast.  I just built a small sofa table, and used 42 each 8 x 40 dominos.

May not be evident when you are looking at the tool, and thinking of how hard it was to make one or 4 mortise and tenons for a project, but the box with 100 of each size and extra cutters is essential.

Buy 'em at the same time is like buying a nail gun and nails.  You may not know which ones you'll use the most of, but almost half of one size is gone for me already, so I've ordred a refill.

Mike

Hey Mike thanks for the reply, I did order them, but they are on back order.  I know when I bought a bisquit joiner it came with a couple of bisquits.  Just thought it was a lot of money for something I can't use until the domino's get off back order.

If you ordered a biscuit joiner would it have come with biscuits? Mine didn't.  :o

You could cancel the backorder and order it from one of the dealers who has them in stock.

I sympathise. At the price the machine sells for, I think it would have been nice if Festool had included a small starter pack consisting of a handful of 5mm dowels as well as the supplied 5mm bit. It's rather like selling an expensive car with an empty tank, and seems a little mean, given the low cost of the dowels.

Since Festool dealers have to compete on service rather than on price, I wonder if including a goody bag with a small collection of tenons with each order might be a way for some enterprising dealer to get some extra customers? At $65 for 1800 dowels, throwing half a dozen into the box would only cost 22 cents, and would do wonders for customer satistfaction. Or perhaps it is verbotten?

You've gotta pay to play my man. Professionalism and precision dont come free. Was this your first Fes purchase? Not to sound like an ass, but if I were going to buy the Domino, the systainer w/ tenons and cutters are an absolute must. Gotta remember, Festool is all about the system  ;).

Hey, ease up on old Everette.  What about the sanding pads you got with your sander boys????  Seems like we got a little double standard going here.  Everette, I'm with you, the dumb krauts have never known what customer service meant and probably never will.  You don't expect much when you buy a cheap piece of equipment but when you pay a premium for good equipment a few measly dominos wouldn't hurt much.  If they're on backorder I guess I'll wait till they get their act together.

Where's the soap. My 5 yo daughter use to keep a bar in her back pocket to save my then-wife the task of finding one when needed.

A bit of levity.

And Putttn,
Where do you get off using such a stupid term (Krauts) on a forum of a German Manufacturer's. I don't believe it.  My gut tells me to write Matthew and have him remove your post and you. Who needs you and your advice. This is a way better forum than that.

I'm in total agreement about that inaccurate and utterly inappropriate comment and commenter!

I agree. However, let's not be too harsh with the poster. I'm sure it was more of a bad attempt at humor than it was anything else. It just didn't go over the way the poster intended. I could be wrong, but that's my take on it.

I have to agree with Lou on this...

I think it was a bad attempt at humor....

Let's not over react.

Please remove Putttn post, and him from this forum. We don't need his kind!

Let's lynch him while we're at it. I got some rope, anyone got a horse?  ;)

Hmmm....  I was a little troubled by the post, but like Lou, hoped it was just a failed attempt at humor -- or even frustration.  Then again, I was glad that something was said about such a statement.  I would think we should let this go, but just this once.  And I hope the responce here has been received by the, er, author.

This board does have a lot to offer.  I don't use other boards much, but one that I have frequented has but one rule; 'just be nice'.  Sounds simple, but it doesn't always end up so.

Thanks John,  I had mentioned to Putttn on another thread hat he should lighten up on the language.  i agree with your suggestion if he does not straighten out his language problems.

Enough is enough Putttn
