I bought the Domino, It came today, can't use it. UPDATE!!!

I think we all need to pay more attention to the ads for the Domino and other Festool tools, no where does it say Dominos come with it. IMO some should. I always look at "what is in the systainer" to see what I will get.

However they do give you a free cutter, maybe this is why no Dominos.

I apologize guys, didn't mean to offend anyone.  I'll remove myself from the forum.  Good luck with your projects.

You are absolutely right, should have realized it, but didn't.

Things kinda different here.  Did not mean for things to get so wound up.  Was just suprised.  Guess I should have read the fine print for the forum that says if you are not praising or saying something wonderful about the product( kind of hard to do if you can't use it), take it some where else.  Only my second post here but I shall be careful in the future if I ever post again.

Having spent much of my carreer in a corporate setting, I would bet hours and hours of meetings in a smoke filled room were spent discussing whether or not dominoes should be included in the basic kit and how many.

The reality of this is  --  suppose they included 6 of each size.

Then when the first project I decided to try it on would need 7, I would be thinking $#@*$  $^#*&$ ( "$" are not pun intended).

What I would do, since dominoes are on back order, would be to roll out my old radial arm saw and make a bunch.  I have a hunch it might be so easy I might decide to cancel my domino order and save a bundle.  But that is just me.

I saw a thread on this as I was logging on this morning.

This is all very interesting.

When I get my Domino, I'll buy the whole 920.00 wallet drainer, so I won't need any extra domino's with the Domino. However,  I assumed that there would be, at least, a few 5mm samples dominos. I don't think I've ever bought a sander that didn't come with a very small selection of of sandpaper, my drills all had at least one drill bit (OK not the best example), and the Kreg pocket hole jig I recently purchased came with a few screws. (haven't bought a biscuit joiner, so I don't know if they come with the biscuts)

It's good marketing for a manufacture to provide samples of the consumables with their tools. E.g. with the basic Domino Kit, a sample of each size domino could be provided -- just so the user could drool over the potential of buying a bigger bit to use that bigger size :)

Without dominos, the tool is only good for making oblong holes. Festool should provide some with the unit, so a customer can walk into a store, buy one box, and get to work, without having to worry about the stores stock of dominos.

It wouldn't surprise me if, in the future, Festool (or good customer service proding ISAs) provides some samples.
In the mean time, the inclusion of any dominos is clearly absent from the documentation, So now I've had another lesson in not to ASSUME.  ;D

Found some domino's at local woodcraft and will pick them up in the morning.  So by tomorrow afternoon should be able to test it all.

You know some people just don't read the fine print.  I also bought the CT22 and ordered the boom arm, didn't remember that the vac does not come with a handle (does come with a bag, hose and a real heavy duty long cord), an extra $60.,but boom will not work with out it.  BTW the boom does work great.
On the other hand Festool ships the ETS 150/3 with a nice starter pack of sandpaper. Of course that resulted in a $200. order to Bob Marino for paper and a couple of spare vac bags.

It would have been a smart move for Festool to have included at least a couple dozen 5 mm dominos within the basic tool so the new owner could immediately actually begin to learn how to use the new tool.  But I have purchased lots of tools from Festool and others, and none of them came with much of anything resembling a complete, ready to run system.  My new cabinet saw did not even include a blade!  Some don't even include an electrical plug.  SawStop's cabinet saw doesn't even include a fence, and you need an extra long one to fit with their extra deep table.  I have learned to expect these things, although I wish the manufacturer's would think more about the position of the customer, especially a new one who does not realize his needs for these additional tooling supplies.

But it is clearly wrong to assign disparaging labels to Festool.  Their USA organization have repeatedly proven they provide a high level of personal service.  For example, I purchased my RO 125 before Festool made a change to add an edge guard.  When I learned of the edge guard via an Australian site describing the RO 125 and asked my Festool ISA about it, he said that my tool had a different housing and could not be used with the guard.  So I contacted Festool USA directly to explain my frustration with inadvertent adjacent surface edge damage occurring in projects I was doing with my RO 125, they offered to change the housing of my tool if I wanted to send it in, or to send me the housing to change myself.  They also thought to inform me that if I did the swap myself, that would void the warranty.

If you have a saw and a router or a file, you can make some dominos to use until your back order is filled.

To me, there is a simple distinction between what Everette is "disappointed" at and the conclusions that some are jumping to.  When he originally placed the order, he ordered BOTH the tool and dominos...  The tool was delivered but the dominos were back ordered.  In that case, it might have been nice if the ISA/dealer had realized this and just threw a hand-full in the case so that he could at least try out the tool...
