It's a common practice on eBay to raise the BIN (Buy It Now) price to something ridiculous when you run out of stock as opposed to ending the listing. That way, the metadata (such as number sold etc.) is kept, and the search rankings and orderings are maintained. When it comes back into stock, the seller will lower the price again. Saves on listing fees too.
Of course, if someone is stupid enough to buy it, they can always source product from someone else.
That's assuming in this case it's not just an honest mistake... ;-)
