Hi Daniel
I just received my Hammer A3-31. Now that I have had a chance to look over it and see how it's put together, I don't think I would ever feel confident in taking it apart and reassembling it.
Is there a room on the first floor, above any unfinished part of the basement, that has a floor covering on it that you might be ready to replace anyway? If I really wanted the machines in the basement, I would give serious thought to a plan to cut out a floor joist and lower the machinery down into the basement with an engine hoist. Depending on the way your house is built, it might be that it is fairly straight-forward to temporarily remove a joist and temporarily remove any mechanicals that are in the way. It would require some planning and manpower but might be a viable option.
