I want to use a Festool on my shop tools with a 4” port

I have a small woodshop, and I want to use my Festool vac to hook up to some of my shop tools like my bandsaw and table saw. I’ve looked a bunch and haven’t found the specific fittings/adapters that would get me from a 36mm hose end to fitting into or over a 4” dust port.

I assume someone has already figured this out. Anybody know?
Thanks.

Bandsaw, Tablesaw, Thickness Planer, Jointer and the like required greater CFM. a shop vac, any brand will only suck some fine saw dust.

Done that before with a CT26 hooked up to a SawStop, during the unavailability of a dust collector. The outcome...sucked. [big grin]

Doesn’t work, just upgraded to a Oneida supercell, now I can run my minimax, Kapex, router table, drum sander  on it. The supercell is very well build and the dust collection is amazing,

I know it won’t be great. I’m a contractor that does a small amount of woodworking in the shop. I just want to suck up some of the dust, that’s all. Does anyone ever just answer anyone’s question without giving a condescending lecture on these boards?

How was his response a "condescending lecture"? He gave you a simple, short, and  straight up response (i.e., not going to work). He spent his time responding...sharing his experiences and trying to help you out...and in no way did his response read as being condescending, judgmental, or trying to insult your question. Your insecure response back was  rude and out of line...or in line with this topic - sucked.

^^^^ these are the right parts.

In addition you will need a 2.5 inch shop vac hose to connect to the adapters. A normal hose will fit your Festool vac. The shop vac hose is about $30 versus 150 for the 50mm Festool hose.

This: https://www.oneida-air.com/flex-hose/vacuum-hose/2-5-inch-5-5-foot-wire-reinforced-vacuum-hose

will be better than a typical 2-1/4" shop vac hose. It's short, which is a good thing. It's also very well built for 17 bucks.

As others have said, what you're trying has been tried before, and it is less than optimally effective. To make it work as well as it possibly can, keep your hose diameter as large as possible (50mm / 2-1/4") and use the bells right at the tool you're connecting.

And don't expect too much. Better than nothing, but just. VOE

The difference between actual dust collectors and smaller shop vacs/extractors is in the air movement.
The bigger units move a lot more air ,but at a lower speed. Extractors have a higher vacuum pressure/ air speed, but less total air volume. As soon as you open to hose size too much, the air speed drops and the effectiveness is gone. You will get clogging in the lines because the chips/dust drop to the bottom and fill it up.
You might get by with it on a small bandsaw as long as you are using it on thinner material where the chip volume is low. Resawing probably not so well.
The sheer volume of the cabinet under a tablesaw is just too much for a small hose collector. In reality, even a big system doesn't do so well in tablesaws. You will still have some build-up in the bottom.

I tried it with my 6" jointer and 12" planer, the Festools CT cant keep up.

What I ended up doing is buying a wall mounted DC to use with those tools.

Hanging on the wall saves floor space and doesnt take up much wall space

Hey look! An actual answer without a retired bearded grandpa with glasses groaning "WELLLLL AKSHULLY......"

You're the man, thanks dude.

That should about do it for the uncalled for insults.

I realize that sometimes people don't always truly answer the  exact question that was asked and you may not have received the exact answer you were looking to get. But there was nothing rude or unreasonable about it. It was perfectly informative and related to the question.

I've use/used a 4" to 2.5" adapter with my bandsaw and it works perfectly fine. Is a dust collector better, Yes; but does it mean the vac doesn't work, No.

The bigger issue is matting up and getting a tight seal b/c the d/c adapters are all US and don't mesh perfectly w/the metric sizes. To help w/that you can use furnco fittings. For example, if you want a tighter seal between the 50mm and a dust deputy. Yes, they are not anti-static but if you've used one you'd know it doesn't matter.
