Hi guys,

Completely new here and have just bought my first Festool saw kit.

My question hopefully is simple. How would I know if the connectors for the guide rails are genuine Festool parts? They arrived loose in an envelope. Shouldn't they have Festool stamped on them?

Your help would be appreciated.

The connectors do not have any branding. If you could post a picture of them fitted we can see if they look correct.

If you can't post a pic then describe them giving their dimensions.

Hi
They should be supplied in a plastic tube.

I got one of my two pairs in a pack with my saw and rails and bought the other separately. All four connectors came in individual clear plastic tubes with plastic stoppers with (festool info on) to protect them.

No markings, but on the festool ones the spacing between the first and second screw, as well as the third and fourth, is appx. 3.125in./80mm, between the second and third it is appx 3.75in./95mm.

There isn't much to them anyway, mine came in placky tubes but the items themselves didn't have any branding.
If it fits and does the job I can't see it making any difference anyway.

You probably want to get the Makita connectors anyways, as they don't gouge the rail like the Festool ones do. There's been several threads about this in the past.

This was my advice to a guy I work with.  Turns out the Makita connectors didn't fit in his Festool rails.  I forget the exact issue why they didn't fit.

Mine don't mark the rail as I glued some small strips of UHMWP on the bottom of the connectors below each screw. The screw then expands in the slot and presses the strip onto the guide rail preventing any damage happening.
