When are we getting the 18 volt quiet impact and an update to the pdc?

We don't have anything to announce about either of those yet. I wouldn't anticipate any announcements in the next 12 months.

I know I know. . It's the oldest grumble on the FOG and I rarely use an impact driver. . . But where on earth is Festool's new Impact Driver?? It's genuinely astonishing that they are continuing to omit such a staple of any cordless range, and it must have a significant effect on the general adoption rate of the Festool 18v range.

I'm not hear to rant at Festool, I just can't believe it's been this long and there is still no whisper of a new 18 impact driver. Honestly what are those fools in Germany playing at  [smile]

I can't speak to the KAPEX, but there's definitely been a desire for a new PLANEX, especially one  that's easier to assemble, lighter, and at a lower price point.

I'd guess lower price is on the wish list of every current and potential customer for every tool you offer    ;D

I frequent one of largest drywall suppliers in the southeast who is also a Festool dealer and they say they don't even sell many planexes.  So I ask again, where are you finding all these folks ?

I don't see planex or any of the other brands (even the $200-300 knockoffs) on sites around here.  Somebody is clearly buying and using them, I just curious what parts of the country have embraced this ?  FWIW - I was told that hospital contractors are their biggest buyer.

Basically as Tyler said.....nothing to report. As I am sure you are aware a lot of rumours go around as to what we will be releasing but it is policy not to add to this.

Unfortunately in these circumstances the minions that end users have contact with, even if they wanted to share, have no information. Any new products are under embargo, and unless you're in senior management at HQ or are directly involved in the production or direct support of the launch, you will likely only hear about new products a few days before the general public.

Festool look at global markets. When the Planex was launched the need for top end extraction was paramount and over the years the market has changed and competitors catch up....hence the reason why the Easy was launched - quick, easy, simple.....and slightly cheaper but the focus is on 1.6m length as this fits most markets

Smaller Kapex seemed like a great idea to me, even the 88 is a fairly big numb machine to cart into a building and up a few flights of stairs everyday so the 60 is a good idea for many tradesmen. Need to cut something wider than the Kapex 60 can manage? Use a HKC.

I don't know about the US but in the UK big sites are starting to crack down on tools that produce loads of dust, sanding drywall produces loads of dust and although its not rated as bad as hardwood or MDF dust its still not good for you so you can bet that there will be more and more drywall done with dust extraction.

I was over in France not so long ago and saw quite a few Giraffe drywall sanders in the hire shop I visited so its obviously something thats becoming far more of a concern there also.

......and there you have the reason why the Planex Easy was launched - the market shifted and this was the answer with some key advantages.
