I just made the largest festool purchase that I ever have made at one time. I already own 23 festool tools (mostly sanders and vacs) but I finally took the plunge on some items that I have wanted forever, and have been saving for awhile. Listed below was my recent order.

Kapex
MFT 3  Also got some clamping elements and other clamps
Ct26 dust extractor. With extra bags
Carvex. Also got the blade kit and base kit
Sys roll
Reconditioned OF2000 router
And a few small extras that I needed.

Anyway I own almost every tool from festool now, besides a domino, (which is next)..  My question is, do you think on large orders like this one (over $3500.00)  that festool should throw in a little extra for the customer.  I know that I used to get shirts and hats on decent orders. Now I never seem to get anything.  I love my festool tools, and feel there worth every penny that I paid.  What is your take on this thought???  (Shane)  Lol...  By the way, I now have 44 systainers...  I bought quite a few empties from Dave R on here.  Thanks. Sam

Every dealer seems to handle this a bit differently, but I'm also guessing that there are internal Festool Company guidelines about this. I read that more discounts or other type incentives seem to be more forthcoming from UK dealers on large purchases, but don't know if that's something unique to the UK market or if I'm misunderstanding the posts here on FOG.  As an aside, from large tool purchases that I've made on other than Festool items, no discount or freebies tend to come my way for the most part.
If there was a Rewards type program, then I guess you'd know something was building up as either a freebie or discount.  [huh]

A t-shirt or cap has never been an incentive for me to buy a tool, but it's nice as a 'thanks for the business'

I totally agree, don't get me wrong, as I too have multiple t-shirts, several hats and other Festool gear that my local dealer swung my way.  [big grin]

3 year free servicing , 15 day (U.K) no quibble returns. Incentive enough for me  [smile]

Up until last year Festool had a Tool-Point system in Sweden. The tools were worth points based on price. Now they stopped doing that  [mad], unfortunately for me since I've got a Kapex on order. [sad] The points could be used for part payment when buying Festools or accessories. I still got a check that I have to use by the end of this year  [big grin]. It should be enough for "half" a sander. I'm leaning towards the RTS.

I agree it would nice if there were things the dealer could or would throw in, but when I have made big purchases from Bosch they didnt throw anything in either.  The festool Stein should be included anything over a grand [wink]

In aus we have a shop called ideal tools in Melbourne and every thing you buy including festool you get a percentage in store credit to buy what ever you want, ie if you bought a kapex with stand you get $77 store credit

In the UK when festool was priced fixed it was good to get to know your dealer and become loyal.  In UK it was pretty standard to get £30 on every festool either of the tool price or accessory its suppose to be accessory only but a lot of dealers would knock it of the tool.
But if you was going to buy a few festool items in one go and you had a good relationship with your dealer you could get more free stuff or money knocked off.

You wouldn't normally get this if you just went to a random dealer only when you became familiar with the dealer

For as far as I know it's at the discretion of the dealer. They are not allowed by Festool to give you a discount, but they are allowed to throw in some extra accessories for free. I know when I bought a DTS400 for €300 I got €76 worth of accessories from my dealer.

And then there are dealers who will give you a discount anyway. One dealer told me I could get a discount if I wanted, but they would give me a receipt for full price because they have to show copies of the receipts to Festool for every purchase. I've heard there are more dealers who do this.

As for me, I don't really need an incentive, personally. Extras are always nice of course, but I buy a tool because I need it, discount/extras or not.

+1 for the receipt trick

who's a happy worker tomorrow  ;) ;)

I agree with everyone who said that having a grade A tool is incentive enough.  There's nothing better than a festool

I am a avid fan/buyer of Festool and never gotten even a "gimme hat" from the dealer. I do get great service from
the dealer and wonderful tools from Festool.

A few months ago, I threw away dozens of gimme hats.

I wouldn't trade a minute of the pleasure I get from using my Festool products for any number of hats or shirts.

I am fairly new (2 years) to Festool and I love them, but it annoys me that you can't get some of the price knocked off or get a free tool when spending 3 thousand dollars on a purchase of tools. I am ready to buy several more tools but this is holding me back. It doesn't matter that they are great tools, they should be for what they cost. It would be nice to get a better price if spending more money- it is called the retail game. I bought all of the 5 tools that I have from the same Woodcraft dealer and haven't gotten a free glass of water from them. I am going to find an online dealer that guys speak highly about on this site and see if that changes.

I find that relationships and loyalty with a dealer will help in getting discount,  I personally have one with my Festool dealer, and receive a small amount of the retail, on most purchases.  It's more like a trade discount than anything, a discount % they give to all Tradies who hold an Cash or Credit account with them.

My relationship with them has got to the point where i had been going in so much that one morning when i was there early the floor manager said I was late and to hurry up and clock in!

On another note Festool Australia often has monthly promotions whereby they offer great discounts and bonuses - eg Buy a Cordless Drill and receive a bonus Battery no charge.  Ive bought an Ti15 and Carvex and received an extra Battery each time.
They offer some great deals.  : http://www.tooltechnicsystems.com.au/files/campaigns/aug-2013/brochure-august-campaign-2013.pdf

If you're looking for a great online dealer, I just made a big purchase from Bob Marino.  He went above and beyond to answer questions and get me the tools quickly.
I'd recommend him to anyone.
