heres the doors i'm working on for the wood shed at mom and pops house. the photo shows the face frame resting on the panel.

Panel, 1x4 pine glued, pocket screwed behind rails and biscuited inbetween, about 23" wide and 70-80" tall

Face Frame 1x pine, kreg jointed.

attaching the FF and panel. Should I glue and screw from back of panel, Or should I build in movement for expansion, if so, how?

my instinct is to glue the two together and fasten well from the back with screws.

if i wanted to allow for movement my only option would be to skip the glue, and screw into slotted holes.

thoughts?

thanks

My opinion would be to glue and screw the face frame from the rear to the panel.
The panel is full size as I see it not set up as a raise panel door. So to me glue and screw would work well, no doubt in some time others will chime in with other ways of doing it also.

I'm worried about expansion busting apart the glue joints. I may turn the 2 layers into 3, float the panel and add another face frame on the back. Or I'll skip the glue and slot all my screws for movement.

rabbet the panel from the back and let it float in a picture like frame and allow for drainage.  Nice door.

rabbet the panel...

trying to picture this, would the face frame and panel sit in the same plane, total door thickness 3/4"?

I'm thinking of cutting the panel into a top and bottom section and trapping them with a face frame on the back.

Turned out great, I went with two rabbeted face frames and floated the panel full size.

trying to figure out a good handle/latch system.
