Integrated shop dust extraction, question

As we are planning to build a shop in the yard I wondered if it makes any sense integrating the dust extraction in the building instead of running it along the wall inside the shop.
when the shop is done I plan to have a bandsaw and a planer/thicknesser.
I think I would have the possibility to run the extraction pipes through the ceiling of the shop to a separate room in the shop where the dust collector would be. (this is what we call the technical room, planned there is the electrical power station and a air compressor) Maybe it doesn't make sense because if the hose/ pipe gets clogged it is unpractical.

I need as much input possible please [unsure] any pros and cons welcome!

Kind regards,
Mauri

i dont think it would be a good idea. when you need to change things (and you will suprisingly often) you will have to wreck the ceiling every time. i would alao worry about sucking up warm moisture lader air and moving it into a cold zone in the cailing. you might get condensating or corosion in the pipe. i would go with a pipe just bellow the ceiling

Thanks for your reply Alan.

I was afraid for pipe issues at places where I can't reach it. Wrecking the ceiling is a no no.

+1 for leaving the pipes exposed.  Does the technical room have a heating system? Any issues with fire hazzard by having the dust collector in the technical room?

Seth,

the shop will be heated though out including the technical room. I don't know about the possible fire hazards, one more reason to question it here. The electricity unit/ fuse box will be in the wall there and as the shop is thermally heated the floor heat piping is accessible in this room too. I planned an air compressor in the tech room too as it separates it from the main working spaces which seems convenient. There is space enough to put the dust extractor elsewhere but I again thought that is would be convenient to keep it out of the main working spaces whenever possible.

I don't the procedure for large dust extractors, but I think it's safe to assume that you need to empty them every so often. Would there be enough room in your technical room to do that?
